So I've joined all you insomniacs, despairing of getting off to sleep in bed, I've come downstairs to find solace in my crappy settee! :D My knees just won't stop hurting but it's both knees which is really getting me down. Pills have been taken to the max, ice used and enough positions to compete with the Kama Sutra! So here I am online and now I feel sleepy so that's all for now, folks.

Talk to you all tomorrow.

Oh wait!
It is tomorrow!

Talk to you later then!

Aw Sorry Jo, I know your hip is sore, but that other one seems to really being giving you alot of trouble. When do you go to the Dr ? I sure hope you can fall back asleep. Take it easy. My prayers are with you.....Kim

Hip?? It's Jo's knee! HJo....how's the weather in England? Are you becoming a barometer for any inclement, damp weather coming? :)

Poor Jo, hope you get some sleep soon!!!

Good morning everyone. It's now nearly midday here in the UK, and it's another showery, cold and windy one.

I noticed you had posted a reply to something else at some unearthly hour in the middle of the night, Jo, and wondered what on earth was going on. Strangely, I had a bad night too - couldn't get to sleep for hours, then woke up several times.

Perhaps this miserable, damp, cold weather has got something to do with us kneesies feeling more uncomfortable?

Actually, we'd run out of the usual Horlicks last night - hubby hasn't got the idea of making a shopping list before we run out of things - so it was Ovaltine instead.

Perhaps that was the problem. Better get some Horlicks in soon!

By the time you read this, Jo, you may have managed to catch up with some sleep, and hopefully are in less pain.

The pain in the operated leg does get better - honestly! Can't say the same for the unoperated one, sadly. That's why I've had both done.

Off to get lunch for daughter and baby.

This lack of sleep thing is a real booger, ain't it. I was never able to sleep on my back, not my whole life. And now, of course, there is really no other position that even gives me a chance at sleep. I think the longest stretch I have had of uninterrupted sleep in the three weeks ( today!) since my TKR was maybe four hours. And that only happened once. Typically, I sleep maybe two hours, then need to change positions.

I have found out that if I fight it, I just get frustrated. So when I wake up and cannot immediately doze back off, I turn on the light and grab my trusty bedside novel. Usually a few pages of that and I am nodding off again. Two hours later, I am doing it again.

This TKR is doing wonders for my literacy...

The damp, rainy, raw, low pressure weather definitely has an impact on the joints both before and after replacement. When the low pressure rolled in for snow or rain was when I had a tough time sleeping as well. I have found as time has progressed the low pressure weather is having less of an affect on my knees.
I have picked up golf as a new activity. I hit a bucket of balls yesterday and definitely feel it this AM! Not a hurt, just know I exerted myself in a different manner.
Keep your thoughts positive, keep reading to nod off, and also watch some TV to help you get back to sleep. Thank goodness for the sleep button on the TV too!

Well, made it through another night! Nuked some wrung out hand towels and wrapped them around my knees. Amazing how much difference it did make though the heat only lasted about half a minute. Was enough for me to drop off on the recliner about 5am - that plus I put AntZ on and barely watched the intro! Woke at midday and haven't had any brekkie yet. Got an appointment to see my doctor this afternoon. Don't know what she can do but talking to her might help a bit!
