Hi all,

Here I am at 14 weeks post op, RTKR and I feel great.

I feel so normal, normal for me anyway :)

I have my life back and feel like I'm living it now, and with that my bubbly personality has returned. Funny, I hadn't realised it had really disappeared so far into the pain until it came back. Can't describe how good I feel and how truly grateful I am.

Yep still get the odd twinge here and there, and if I over do the PTor the housework, I get swelling but it goes quickly also. Take the very occassional pain killer.

Life is good!

This is not meant as a brag, but to give those just starting out on their recovery a light at the end of what seems like an endless tunnel.

Good luck everyone and thanks all of my encouragers along the way I appreciate every one of you.

Chris :)

Oh, Chris.....what a wonderful post!!! It's always great to hear good news and the joy of your new life without pain certainly comes through. Hooray!!!!! Your story will definitely help those just starting on the journey.

Thanks for the up-beat post. Those of us in the "waiting room" need to hear about the good that's to come for us as well as all the practical advise from all of you who have gone before.
Blessings,
Irene

hi hun well done on being so positive maybe you would like to swap knees lol

It is ALWAYS great to hear the good news--congrats on getting back into the land of "normal"!

In the depths of "will the recovery ever get better" it helps to hear from those who are seeing the benefits and experiencing the good results. Thank you! I needed that today.

Chris!!!!! You sound soooo wonderful! You've worked so hard to get to this place, I'm totally thrilled for you! Hope EVERY day is a great day from now on!!! :)

WOW Aussie,
You sound so happy it is making me smile!!! I can not wait till I can say
Ohhhhhhhhh Happy Days I have my Life back.
^i^

Hi and thanks everyone.

Wish I could swap knees with you nannylol, I'm only 4'11" when I stand up very straight so you might be a little lopsided if I did.

Always nice to know I've shared a smile, or two :) :)

Chris :)

Wonderful to hear how well you are doing Chris! Spurs me on with my physio etc!
And by the way - have you not heard the saying "Good things come in small packages" ? LOL :)

I am now 7 months out, and I must say things are feeling really good. My new knee is so strong and dependable compared to my "old" knee. I am actually really considering getting the right one done now--it needs it.

Go for it,Linda! Before it becomes even more painful! :)

Chris, I am also 17 weeks out and I know just how you feel. People who have not lived with constant pain do not understand how it effects your life. When I first went to rehab I would be walking and just stop and stand still and all the tech would come running wanting to know what was wrong, I had to explain that I was just enjoying standing there without any pain for the first time in 10-15 years.

Life is great again!

Max

Chris,
Thanks for posting. It is SO great to hear. After all it is what we all did/are doing this for and I can't wait! I'm hoping I'll be as lucky as you and back to work full time by 14 weeks. Thanks for your inspiration! Cheryl

Thanks again everyone.

Good on you Max, still admire you bi laterals. I know just what you mean about savouring the moment. I also like those times like when I have gone out to the car having gone down 2 front stairs, across the lawn and find myself sitting in the car, thinking to myself, I just did that without thinking about it, it just happened. Great feeling.

Chris :)

Hi Chris

Good to hear things are going well. You and I are on the same timline and I feel good as well. In fact my wife and I are now in South Africa (arrived last night) for an extended holiday. My knees gave me a bit of grief on the flight but nothing like the last time I was here before the operation. That time I was almost in tears from the pain!

Richard

Many thanks for this posting Aussie it has made me feel a great deal more positive about my RTKR next week. I too am a very positive upbeat person but I feel myself slipping into worry / stress and pure fear about the next few months. To read such positive thoughts from someone who has so recently started the journey of recovery has lifted my spirits.

Again thank you and God bless you.

Michele! Welcome! I'm a hippie, but everyone here is so wonderful & supportive, you'll be feeling so much better before you know it! Spring is coming! :)

Hi and welcome Michele,

I cannot speak highly enough about this procedure and how happy I am that I have had it done. I have to have my other knee done sometime and I would have no hesitation now. Obviously it's not all beer and skittles, and the first few weeks you do wonder what you have done but keep an eye on the destination and you will see improvements every day. Good luck with it.

Hey Richard, I was just thinking, do they have lions in South Africa, (sorry I'm a bit geographically challenged)! If they do, and they come after you just stick your knees out that should break a few teeth and stop them in their tracks. Have fun.

Chris :)
