I've been concerned with this constipation thing, having had surgeries, pain meds and a slow digestive system afterwards. A friend told me today, to mix a teaspoon of epsom salt with a cup of prune juice, let it dissolve very well, and drink it at bedtime to wake to a good (no cramping) bowel movement. She swears by it!
My surgery is in less than 24 hrs. First thing tuesday Nov 10th.
Not unlike the rest of you, I'm fighting the fear. God has been giving me little bursts of morale boosting everyday. Through the scriptures, friends, family, nurses...etc...I'm as ready as I'll ever be. I'm visualizing my Lord holding me in his arms, and guiding the surgeon's thoughts and movements. I KNOW if anyone has "got my back" he does!
Good luck and Godspeed to you all. Catch you on the flip side!
Connie

What a great attitude you have, Connie!!! And I hope your surgeon has a very good nights sleep tonite! Can't wait to hear from you once you're on the other side! :thmb:

Connie, may the LORD bless you and keep you and make HIS glorious face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you & give you peace.
I am 3 weeks post op & like you I trust in the LORD. It has not been easy but it has been worth it.

Speedy recovery to you!

Connie, stool softeners usually will do the trick also. Have you tried them? They are gel caps....your drug store should even have a generic brand that will be just as good as a "name" brand. Be sure and get STOOL SOFTENERS....NOT a laxative or any other product that has a stimulant chemical in it.

I'm sure your prune juice drink will work too, but it sounds kind of yukkie taste-wise....:skp:

There ya go.....prune cocktail on the rocks...with a toilet on the side!!!:wahey::rotfl:

I know they used stool softeners on me in the hospital and yes, at home I have been a little constipated. Not painfully, but not normal. I will probably try something like you suggested or some of the other suggestions like prunes. I am sure it is from the Vicodin. Good luck to you!

Stool softeners - the by-word on this forum!

What do you think this is? The Sun newspaper?

Oh sorry - you're not a Brit - that falls on deaf ears! :hehe:

Did you just say you wished I was your son?? Awwwww moma hen,I have never been prouder!,,lol

Now whats the Sun Newspaper??lol

LOL!!

The Sun is is a daily newspaper in the UK, famous for it's "page 3" girls who are photographed 'artistically! It does manage to squeeze in the odd few news items and quite a bit of sport!

Along with the Colace, magnesium works wonders. But I'd rather take capsules ...magnesium asporotate or magnesium citrate are great. We probably don't have enough magnesium even during normal times.

With prune juice! That'll do "double 'duty"......SORRY!!!! ((:0)
The Sun is a real sleazy tabloid FYI, Mark!!!! You thinl OUR tabs are yucky......
