Those exercises are very important to getting ready IMVHO (like that Jo?) Strength and stretch in the quads and upper body strength are vital for moving around especially for a bi-lateral situation since you won't have a "good side" to count on. There are many good books. My os office has one on Amazon as well. TKA just stands for Arthoscopy (sp?).Means the same thing.

Ship, I have that book and yes, it is very good and I would recommend it! The lady doing the exercises in the book looks exactly like my mother and it's kind of weird. She could be her twin. Maybe they should have put someone in their 40s or 50s in the book. There's a lot of us young'uns on this site.

Beach, Do you know what stage of arthritis your MRI showed? From what I've researched, a scope on a joint with stage 1 or 2 arthritis is generally successful. Stage 3 or 4 is not often. Now I'm not a doctor so don't hold me to this!!!!

Either way, we all want to do the conservative thing first and that's exctly what you are doing. We'll all stay postive for you!

Interesting. That would explain my situation. I was a grade 3 arthritis in my left knee after my car accident and they did arthroscopy to remove the damaged cartilage. I was 'better' as in non-swollen and less stiff for about 6 months and then it went down hill fast after that.
