Hi all...I just found this great forum and had to join! I'm now right at two weeks after a left TKR, and your posts and comments are really helping me feel more normal in my progress.

I'm almost 52 and finally decided to bite the bullet after years of bad knees, with my left being the worst. I'll have to have my right done eventually, but for now I'm happy to put it off and looking forward to having more motion and stability in my left than I've had for well over a decade.

Honey...we've got identical situations and we're the same age!! I'm 4 months out....
Glad to have you here!! It's a WACKY place!!!! What State do you live in?

Hi Weezy, and welcome. Your knee is still very new at only ywo weeks. How does it feel? Have you looked back at our early posts, Jan-Feb, there is a lot of info there, very desciptive and frank. Let us know if there are any questions. Our boss Josephine, she is our angel nurse, experienced for over 40 years, will be online sometime soon. She lives in the UK so is on a different time zone. She has all the right answers. We also like to answer all we can when she's not around.

Anytime you feel down and need a shoulder to cry on just get posting. Also let us know your good times and milestones. We have a photo thread too.. and a recipe page. This is because we are getting back to living a near normal life now thanks to our wonderful new knees. This will come to you later. When you can't sleep just jump on in and see who's around, if no one just leave a message anyway. It helps sometimes just to put your feelings down, We have all been there at some stage, so don't be shy.

All the best.......Sue

Welcome, Weezy!!! We're glad you decided to join our crazy group of knee wizards. You'll find a lot of friendship, support and humor in our little family. Post whenever you feel like to to trumpet your successes and get help, if needed, when you have a concern. More than likely there will be someone who has experienced the exact same thing!

Welcome, Weezy! It's great to have you join us! We're quite a family. If you have questions you will find the answers here - even if it has nothing to do with your TKR! I am ~5 months out now and so glad I had the TKR. I don't know how I would have made it this far without this group, though. So, let us know how you are doing, what your concerned about, what you're proud of, etc. You'll probably experience some of the same things we all have - depression, weepiness, restless legs, constipation, sleeplessness, ROM (range of motion) issues, strange pains, swelling, pain, you name it - we've discussed it. We have recipes, jokes, and more than our share of crazy people. So, come on in, set a spell, take your shoes off. You are among friends and family!

Beachy, Put me down for "Petticoat Junction" for $100.
Welcome Weezy. This a good place with lots of nice folks, regardless of what you may have heard. God bless you, post early and often.

Yall come back now, ya hear? THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES

Come and listen to a story 'bout a man named Jed
Poor mountaineer barely kept his family fed
Then one day he was shooting for some food,
And up through the ground come a bubbling crude
(Oil that is, black gold, Texas tea)

Well the first thing you know old Jed's a millionaire
Kin folk said Jed move away from there
Said California is the place you oughta be
So they loaded up the truck and they moved to Beverly
(Hills that is, swimming pools, movie stars)

Well now it's time to say goodbye to Jed and all his kin
They would like to thank you folks for kindly dropping in
You're all invited back again to this locality
To have a heaping helping of their hospitality
(Beverly Hillbillies, that's what they call 'em now,
Nice folks Y'all come back now, ya hear?)

Once again we've hijacked a thread! Sorry Weez...but you'd better get used to it!!!

WHAT DO I WIN????

Patti, you WON!!! We'll all be dropping in at your house for a party!

Okay, how many people actually sang along with Patti's words as they read her post??? I'm bettin' everybody over the age of 45!!

Uh, Jamie, it rang in my head as I read it... I pictured it as well.

What a great bunch of people! Thanks, everyone for the warm welcome. And yes, I also sang along with the Beverly Hillbillies theme--and now I can't get it out of my head! OOOOOOOOO----the pain of it all!

I love a group where threads can be hijacked and nothing is really too off topic...makes me feel more at home.

A little more about me: I live in Washington state, Seattle to be exact. I'm a college prof and finishing up a yearlong sabbatical I took to finish my phd. That's why I decided to get my knee done--I don't have to be back to work until next September and I'm done with my degree, and for the first time in years I have time to relax and recoup.

I'm recently married (last September) to a wonderful man and now have two stepsons (he has full custody). Life is definitely interesting!

I'll admit that I was surprised at the extent I've been laid up these last two weeks. I've had many major knee surgeries and I guess I've forgotten how bad the recovery was...so all of your posts are really giving me hope. Heck, yesterday was my first trip out (to the doc for stitches), and I slept lousy, had more pain, and today I'm just dead. Yuck! Definitely two steps forward and three steps back....

Thanks for letting me join your group; I'm looking forward to participating and getting to know all of you!

Weezy

Another Northwesterner! I'm in Shedd, Oregon, Weezy. Just about 10 miles south of Albany. Beachcomber is in McMinnville!

Gat, don't even say the words "Medical Bills"! They are starting to roll in here and I'm getting that what have I done knot in my stomach... Now I get to figure this all out and fight and follow up annd blah, blah, blah. I'll need a new forum - Broke and depressed recovery.

Weezy, yes, just like cousins at the reunion. staying up all hours talking about whatever. oh how you must ache with all that rain in Seattle.

Oregon! I grew up in Portland...still have a stepmother in Eugene and lots of relatives I never see in the Mt. Hood/Parkdale area.
