Two weeks after R tsr, just found this forum.
pain control good with tylenol twice daily, ice after physical therapy (3 x week).
Retired MD( not orthopedics), so glad to help here.
so far, pleased with prpgress.
thanks.

Hi, nedmed47 and welcome to BoneSmart. So glad to hear you're progressing well with your new shoulder. Hope things continue this way for you. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Thanks. 17 days postop, on PT 3 times a week.
Not much pain, only Tylenol.
Posterior scapular pain, of years duration is totally gone.
About preop scalene nerve block: very helpful. Wish I had taken the offer of second block postop, as the preop wore off at 8 hours. Oral narcotics not enough for about a day, then improved.
The lesson: when an anesthesiologist offers something, say YES.

:welome:@nedmed47 ! Good to see a new "shoulder warrior" on here. This part of the site isn't as busy as the hip or knee forums. I'm almost 2 months out from rotator cuff repair and bicep tendon release. Luckily my nerve block lasted almost 24 hours but a top off might not have been a bad idea! Recovery from my surgery will be a bit different and a bit longer than yours, but we can still encourage each other down the path!

Followup, now 3 years, 5 months after surgery.
Very pleased, pain free, nearly normal range of motion, normal activities, but I followed my OrthoSurgeons advice: no wood chopping, no downhill skiing, etc.
my advice for newbies is posted above.
Pick your surgical team very carefully, experience really counts. If in doubt, get a second or third opinion. My surgeon had done many TSRs.
Follow instructions, do everything the PT team advises, and you will be on the road to a great result.

@nedmed47 Great update - thanks for checking in! So glad your TSR was successful. Here's to living pain free!
