I am scheduled for right knee replacement Oct 9. I’m equal parts excited and nervous.

I’m equal parts excited and nervous
That describes most of us pre-op, I believe. Welcome to our forum! We're here to help in any way we can, so as you think of questions, feel free to ask them. Sometimes those pesky nerves ramp up as it gets closer and closer to the surgery day, so keeping as busy as possible is a good idea. We have a lot of information on the site; feel free to wander around and read. At some point close to your surgery, start a recovery thread so you're ready to post and keep us updated on your surgery and recovery. We're here for you!

Unfortunately I have had to cancel my surgery. I just was hospitalized with an usual bowel obstruction where part of my colon got trapped between my liver and diaphragm. I’m better now but if this happens again will need colon resection so I need to wait and see how I do. I also had part of a tooth break off under a bridge so that needs to be fixed. Am I cursed?? Maybe I’m getting a message to leave my knee alone

OMG how despiriting! I hope your wayward colon stays where it ought to, and these are relatively minor glitches.

Thanks-I’m trying to view it as time to get in better shape and lose some more weight ( 50 pound total over the last 2 years)

@Oldped So sorry your surgery was cancelled. Sounds like you need to get healthy again in preparation for your TKR. Well done on the weight loss!

Maybe I’m getting a message to leave my knee alone
I think the message is to get all other areas of your body in the best possible shape before the knee so your recovery isn't beset with these other issues. The recovery process will send a lot of energy to your knee to help with healing; having other areas going through issues at the same time would not be helpful, so it's best to get them taken care of first. Can you imagine trying to recover from a TKR, and your other issues decide to hit? It's a blessing in disguise; if you had to have these things hit, it's better they hit before the TKR, not right after.

Congrats on your weight loss! That's such a great achievement!
