Hello all, I got approved for Osteo braces today. They are supposed to help me walk like a "normal":hehe: person until I can get my knees replaced. Well anyway, they are made for people who enjoy extreme sports but have Osteo. I told my OS "great, now I can ski down the mountains in Colorado with reckless abandon!":rotfl: He said he would settle for me walking without pain until I can get rid of the MRSA for good! LOL

Sonja,

I had two braces for skiing--Don Joy on the left and CTI on the right. The Don Joy was very comfortable--I almost hated to get the surgery on the left leg because that had the best brace!! I used them for skiing and long hikes and they did make a difference for me in the pain area. I hope you can get the Don Joy ones, they are so much more comfortable--it is easier to wear them. Kelly

Hi Skigirl,

I will be getting the Bledsoe active OA kneebraces. I am so excited! I skiied when I was in high school, but my hubby would kill me if I even suggested it now LOL:D

Thanks so much for replying!

Hi Sonja I did have one as well it did help a lil.....but for you you need something till you can get rid of all that all get better..........make sure you were it when you are supposed to good luck i hope you get some relief..............)

:thmb:Hope they do just the trick for now, Sonja!

I had a DonJoy brace, it sure helped while waiting for the TKR surgery. Don't miss wearing it, tho! Mine was big and bulky and made it difficult to find pants to fit over it - then it rubbed holes where the hinges were -HINT: if you have one like that, iron on patches inside the pant leg will stop that!!
Since it was all red and shiny I think I'm going to cut it up and make Christmas ornaments out of it!!! :thmb:

I should be getting the knee braces on Thursday. I went and got Synvisc One injected into my knees today. My knees are very sore right now but I think anything that I can do to make life beter is worth it!:thmb: I have been earing unloader braces already and my knees are twisting inside of them. My knees need the stability on both sides instead on one side. I am excited about the Bledsoe braces that are being custom made for me. My insurance has been very good to me thankfully!:D

All the best to you, Sonja!! Hope everything is going well for you!:wink:

Sonja...can't wait to hear from you when you finally get the braces! It should help you a lot...Best of Luck!!!

Thanks Cindy,

Right now I am in so much pain from my Synvisc One injections!:sigh: I had Hylagen in the past but didn't feel like this. Doc said "go home and go to bed for 2 days!" Well,:skp: I drove myself so I thought I just HAD to run a "couple" of errands first. Should have listened to Doc.:shk:

Do the braces help if your are bone on bone in both knees? If I thought it would help the pain and pressure on my lower legs and ankles while standing I would think of getting the braces. Any advice? Has anyone had the pressure I referred to?

Sonja
I am sorry those synvisc injections hurt. I had a series of 5. The first 3 did nothing, the fourth caused more pain, then after the fifth i got some relief!!!
I sure hope they give you some good relief and that your braces arrive very soon

I can't wait to get our new braces!!!!!!

Ok now I am mad! The girl that ordered the braces decided to order something different from what the Techs and Dr. and I agreed on. I told her, what happened to my braces that I was going to get and she said, "I ordered these instead!" :hissy: She said "you walk like a penguin," and I said "if you hurt as bad I do, you would too!" She argued about everything and right now the stupid braces are sitting in my living room until I can talk to the dr. in the morning!

AAAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHH:shk:

Well, that's rich! What arrogance to think she can overturn the doctor's orders!

Why did you even take those braces home with you? Do you have to pay for them?

Sonja , my doc has a medical assistant that does things like that. That is so very frustrating. Wonder what the doc will say. i hope he gets very mad at her. Hope the real ones come very soon
judy:hissy:

OMG! I would have had a few 'choice' words to say (words a 2nd grade teacher should not even know!!). Who does she think she is, changing doctor's orders? I'd be in the office, waiting to see her and the doc together. Hope you get this straightened out, and soon.
