Getting on Medicare August 1. Going to schedule knee replacement for October.
I'm 64. Doing my right knee first. Have a highly re commended surgeon in Denver picked out.
I am bone on bone mostly just on medials. His technique is to make incision on medial side vs. straight down kneecap. Then will determine during surgery whether to do partial or total. Does this sound right?
Also wondering about robotic assist surgery vs. no robotics.
Thanks!

Sounds right, they have to see the knees cartilage and check for any arthritis in the other compartments before doing a partial. X-rays often do not show mild arthritic changes.

The skill of your surgeon is the most important consideration, you want a surgeon who does a 100 to 250+ TKR's/PKR's a year.

Yes, that sounds right. If there is any sign at all of arthritis, no matter how small, in the other compartments of your knee, a total should be done. Many partials fail too early because arthritis has spread to other knee compartments.
