Despite the somewhat chilly temps (38F), the sun was shining today, so decided to go with hubby this afternoon to exercise our pony-sized chocolate lab. Though I've been walking fine & back to work (office job) since 5 weeks out from my anterior RTHR, this was the first official rough terrain trek for the "new girl," and she performed quite admirably!
We trudged through the woods for more than an hour (lots of fallen trees to navigate around after our ice storm) & had several relatively steep ascents & descents. Going down made me a bit nervous, since it was a little muddy & I had visions of my feet sliding out from under me, but I managed with no mishaps. Felt just a bit of a burn in my upper thigh on one of the steeper descents, but otherwise it was smooth sailing--and boy, did THAT feel GOOD!!! (I've had a bit of post-op nerve pain, & am taking Neurontin, but that's another topic.)
My last long-distance trek was back in September to our local zoo with our granddaughter & rest of the family--and I was pushed in a wheelchair. I am SO, SO glad I had this surgery!!!
