2018. April rightTKR, everything great, Oct 2018 left TKR, problems with sciatic nerve pain. This is unbearable. I know if I didn't have the surgeries I would have been in a wheelchair, but with this pain, my quality of life is not good.
I'm sorry for your woes and I know it’s hard to deal with an outcome your not happy with. I don’t think I’ll be able to manage as you have for such a long time.
I’m sorry you are still so much pain at 7 months post op. I’m going to ask @Josephine to come talk with you.
I’m the meantime I will leave you our Recovery Guidelines that all new post op members get. Each article is short but very informative. Following these guidelines will help you have a less painful recovery.
Knee Recovery: The Guidelines
1. Don’t worry: Your body will heal all by itself. Relax, let it, don't try and hurry it, don’t worry about any symptoms now, they are almost certainly temporary
2. Control discomfort:
a. If it hurts, don't do it and don't allow anyone - especially a physical therapist - to do it to you
b. If your leg swells more or gets stiffer in the 24 hours after doing it, don't do it again.
4. PT or exercise can be useful BUT take note of these
We try to keep the forum a positive and safe place for our members to talk about their questions or concerns and to report successes with their joint replacement surgery.
While members may create as many threads as they like in the majority of BoneSmart’s forums, we ask that each member have only One Recovery Thread. This policy makes it easier to go back and review the member’s history before providing advice, so please post any updates or questions you have right here in this thread.
I feel for you. I have the same issues in my left knee. I had two revisions done - now I'm dealing with nerve pain, sciatica... it's awful. I'm seeing a chiropractor and looking t ... acupuncture believe it or not. Anything that will work!
I had a lot of sciatica issues before my replacements. I found a chiropractor who was able to solve it with just one adjustment, although it needs regular maintenance until I can rebuild and rebalance my hip muscles. Have you looked into massage and or chiropractic for relief?
