Hi all

At 9 months post BTKR life is pretty good. I can do almost all of what I could do before the operation but now its painless :D

My only remaining aggravation is the loss of feeling on the outside of my knees. I know the nerves get cut in the operation but do they ever come back??? Perhaps some of you who are a bit further ahead of me can answer

Many thanks
Richard

I think the professional answer is maybe. I think the nerves wake up slowly--you will feel them as almost an itch when they do. But, since they are cut, they may not regenerate and you may end up with a numb spot on your leg. Kelly

I have had a numb spot on my right leg since surgery was done in 1971. You get used to it after a while and I don't even notice it most of the time.

I appear to now have a numb spot on my left leg since BTKR surgery in June. My pt says it is too soon to know if the numbness will be permanent.

Don't worry about and and just see what time brings.

Thanks for the info

That was sort of what I expected..... I don’t actually mind the loss of feeling, it’s just that gave recently started to try kneel and it feels very weird with no feedback from the nerves around my knees:pzld:

I also have numbness on my shin, but then it's still early days for me. I rub it gently.

I just wish the little man inside my knee with the barbed wire would cease and desist, he waits quietly for a few days then strikes again. I think it's nerve repair going on.

I have been keeping a record of my numb area regression

So I reckon it's resolved by about 20-30% in those few months.
(and so has the swelling, as you can see!)
