I am 10 weeks post op (THR right side) and I seem to be having a problem with tying shoes. Because my leg was lengthened a touch. I believe my muscles were stretched to accommadate the extra length. I seem to especially have a problem with my hamstring. When stretched it gets so tight I couldn't go past 90 degress if I wanted to.
Everything has been going pretty well so far I believe. I have been very active post op, doing my exersizes, walking and riding a bike. Not to mention a few light chores around the house. I've started yoga classes and I'm about to start cycling classes again (spinning) and playing golf in the next few weeks.
I would so love to be able to tie my own shoes.
What I would like to ask, is there any techniques that can be used so that I will be able to put on socks and tie shoes without the help of any tools?

Moose 923,

I'm in the boat. I'm 4 months post op, and still having trouble tying my shoes and putting sock on. My hamstrings are really tight too, so I've been stretching and doing yoga, it's working slowing. I've been able to get a sock on, but still can't bend to tie my sneakers. I have to slip them on using a shoe horn.

I finally tied my shoes. I started taking some Yoga and Pi-Yo (Pilates) classes and that seemed to help. My OS told me I could start stretching things a little bit at ten weeks so I started the classes on Monday, After a Pi-Yo class on Thursday I tried to tie them and was successful. Keep at it, it's amazing how fast things happen after you start concentrating on the thing at hand. Next up GOLF.
Socks have been a differant story, I haven't tried too much because the sock tool is easy to use.
