Saw a recommended surgeon and scheduled my right knee replacement for April 14. After the appointment, I realized I had so many questions, especially what is the best device on the market to meet my needs? I am 54, so I need longevity. And, I want high performance to allow maximum activity and mobility. Where can I find information? My surgeon only uses one brand, Adam.

Hello @LaLaLisa - and :welome:

If you have a surgeon you trust, you can trust him/her to choose a suitable joint replacement for your knee.
In spite of the advertising, there is really very little difference between the various brands.
It's much more important to choose a good surgeon who has a good track record with the device he/she uses.

The skill of your surgeon is the most important factor for success in any knee replacement.

Here are some articles to help you prepare for your surgery:

I'd start off by reviewing the Adam implant/ system. I am sure you'll find it to be fine.

If it is not the one you want then you may have to find a surgeon that uses something else. In any even ask, ASK you surgeon - as this and many more questions will come up. I found despite my best planning forgotten questions AFTER visit to my surgeon! When that happened I asked follow-up question thru 'MyChart'. A system many major hospitals employ - allowing you to ask question of your health provider online. That was great for me on many levels.

I have the Zimmer system installed in part by way of robotics (my surgeon was still involved - well I hope so - smile!). When all is said and done it's the skill of the surgeon matched to your specific case that matters most.

@LaLaLisa

I am not aware that there is any brand of knee replacement implant called Adam. Are you sure you heard the name correctly?
Because searching on Google does not bring up any brand of that name.

In any case, as I said before, it is much more important to choose a skilled surgeon than to choose the brand of hardware yourself.
Talk to your surgeon about your expectations and what you hope for after you've recovered.

A skilled surgeon can produce a successful result, no matter what hardware he/she uses, while a less skilled surgeon can produce an unsatisfactory result, no matter how fancy the hardware is.
