I had a GREAT DAY! Alot of first for me today! Today was the first day I drove my children for the after school activities. Went food shopping with out a scooter! and cooked dinner. I was out and about for 3 hrs in the car alone, with out pain, and first time I left home with out medications and a back up driver. It is exciting for me making these small tasks (for people who never had joint problems) and still feel good tonight!

Great for you. How long has it been since the op?
Mine was one week ago today. I have a big case of cabin fever. I am recovering well but impatient by nature. I'm a retired cop which makes me a stay at home dad. I look so forward to getting back to grocery shopping and cooking. But as with you, time will tell.
Have a great day and cook well!!

I had my rt tkr done on November 27th so I am 8 weeks post op. I know your fustrations, give it time, it will happen

Congrats on your great day, Junebug. I am 3 months post-surgery and I am still noticing improvement all the time. This morning I came downstairs, walking almost like a normal person (still a little bit of Frankenstein gait, but not much), with NO pain.

I can now be out and about all day, doing stuff. It is glorious! I am getting ready to put in the biggest vegetable garden I've ever had. I could not have become an urban homesteader with my old knee!

Woo hoo! great stuff! I am truly delighted for all of you.

WOW, shopping with out a scooter? I'm impressed! Maybe if I had only one TKR I would be better. I went to the grocery yesterday, accompanied by my hubby, and rode the scooter at Wal Mart, but used a cart for a walker at the other grocery we went to. ( I thought they didn't have scooters) When I got to the check out, lo and behold in front of me were three scooters, waiting for someone like me! That was officially the farthest I have walked post op.
Considering I have not been able to walk up my stairs normally for many years, as of last Tuesday (8 week check up) I have been going up and down, but I am way far away from doing it normally. Today was my second day to fly solo in my car! I had to go to out patient therapy. I really got a work out, and I can't wait till Wed for my next session. I feel like this will be what I need to get the full ROM and teach me how to walk and bend my knees!

Before I tossed the cane away,I would use the shoppingcart to steady me---it forced meto walk naturally and i would shop with my wife for groceries.

Out patient therapy is really whee it is at---much mor efficient---they have ALl of the toys they need to put you through a great workout.

Congrats!
