Last night as I was leaning my nephew's football game and going down the bleachers, I lost my balance and went down with my right leg (RTKR on 1/27/09) bending in ways it had not for years! I heard a crunch (Lots of pain!) and ended up on my rear end. I was thinking to myself that I had just given myself a manipulation without anesthesia!!!
I was able to get up with a little help and get to the car. It was achy and I went home, took ibuprofen, and iced it. This morning I am noticing most of the pain above the knee. Thankfully it hasn't swelled, so hopefully no major damage and maybe I broke up some of the scar tissue and will be able to get a better ROM now! :pzld:

I have always been very afraid of falling but I survived! It was a bit embarrassing though! Thanks for listening!

MWA :rotfl:That's a good one! Glad you didn't get hurt too bad. Keep an eye on the knee though!!! I fell weeks after my surgery...what a sight!!! Mostly my pride got hurt :shk:...along with the back.

Moe....so glad you are okay. Please be careful!!! Falls like that can hurt lots of parts!!!

MWA...would that be Manipulation While Awake??? So many of us have similar experiences. I guess a fall now and then is part of life, but with a new knee you always wonder if something will be hurt besides your pride. Thankfully any real damage to the joint does NOT happen and you get an unexpected "freeing up" of the tissue in there.

You did the right thing by immediately icing and using anti-inflammants. You'll probably be sore for a bit, but okay. Let us know how your new ROM is....

Moe so glad you did not hurt yourself more.
Those steps on the bleachers can be a pill. That is were my knee talks to me. (Going down) At least everyone around me knows about my knee and they watch out for me and are so protective. My daughters mother in law is always there too and she had a tlkr a couple of months before me. We call ourselves the bionic Nana's. But can't miss those games. Last night was the last game for my middle grandson, he is a senior. It was a little sad, but I am sure he will play in college. Some prep school is West Va. wants him, but I don't want him that far away.

Watch the knee and hope nothing is wrong with it.

I kind of had a schedule going for those embarrasing falls. ONce a year. I'm long overdo now. Just know you are not alone.
Hope you feel better every day and have some benefit from this (ROM)

Oye!!!! OUCH. MOE!!! Some way to grab attention!!! Seriously, besides the initial embarassment, glad you are OK!!! Those bleachers ARE dangerous!!! Did your nephew's team win at least??? Take care now!!! (:)0)

I am glad that you are OK. That's funny MWA-manipulation without anesthesia. I call that MUA without the A. And I already had 2 in just 2 weeks after surgery. Both times were in rehab, when I was sitting in a wheelchair with my right leg elevated. BOTH times I pushed the lever to lower the leg and it went WHACK! right to the floor, 90 degree bend at warp speed. It hurt the first time, so you'd think I wouldn't do it again, but NO...twice finally taught me a lesson.
Take care and be careful.

Ouch! Just thinking about it, OUCH! Glad you are doing OK, love the attitude, MWA :hehe:

Wow Glad you are ok!!! Falling is such a huge fear of mine! I sure hope everything is ok and you wont have too many other owies from your fall! Take care!

Thank you everyone for your comments and concerns! I appreciate it! They did win the football game with a touchdown in the last minute so that was a good thing! :thmb: I am off to medicate, elevate, and ice. Achy and sore but still no swelling. Long day of soccer games today (not me, my two youngest boys! :p) but now I am done for the day! Take-out for supper here! My bed is calling me! Take Care everyone!

Hey Moe glad your ok awhile back there was a man om hear that did the same he said it did wonders for him.......lol.......be careful on those bleachers they are a bummer...........Glad you ok and just take care of yourself............

Oh Moe, I am so glad you are ok. Are you my little sister? Her nickname since birth was Moe, and she and I fall down all of the time. We are famous for it. Our poor husbands and always scooping us up off of the floor. I love wearing skirts, but need the extra protection of the pants while I flail about in the parking lots of the world.

Please be careful, and I am still laughing at "manipulation without anesthesia"> Very funny!

Moe;

Glad to hear that I am not the only one who falls. Had tkr 9-9-09 fell outside in yard this morning. Good luck on recovery.

Hi, jacb....welcome! Fear not...MOST of us manage to take a tumble after surgery and we always seem to come up just fine. Mostly prides are hurt.....not new joints. They truly ARE bionic!

I took my first fall this week...Knee is bionic. But my rear was not...hope you are okay. Ice and elevate.
