I had my my appointment with the surgeon Thursday the 1st to go over my MRI and CT scan. I have a lot of degenerate disc disease but what’s causing the rubbing against the hip is the Iliotibial band. He gave me a cortisone shot in the hip, so far it’s helping. I’ve been exercising in the pool and resuming my daily activities.
I hope that is ok. My papers said rest which I did after the shot.

@HipGal2021 hopefully the injection continues to give you relief. Maybe this will give your hip a chance to heal a little more and stop the iliotibial band time to calm down and stop rubbing.

Since I’ve had my cortisone injection, it’s helped but I’m still having some pain while walking. It still feels like something is rubbing or the hip is weak. ‍I stop after a few steps then walk again. I’m not sure what is going on. Any ideas?

Part of my MRI:
There is some atrophic change of the left psoas muscle
which is new compared to previous examination.
