Revision TKR Revision again

@patsortho, this is just awful! If your former OS isn't affiliated with Mayo, that sounds like a great choice. I hope you can get in there ASAP!

Yea they did mua anyways I was wondering why no xray. And Mayo isn't affiliated thankfully

I hope you can find a revision specialist soon. You've been dealing with this for far too long. Finding a revision doc at Mayo would be great! I can't believe they did an MUA when you have an alignment problem.

I wanna say he didn't properly look at X-ray. I talk to a lot of people at pt that can't get rom either . Called mayo they are booking out too far away. Found a dr in palakta, fla his name is Karl Baird

Just found your thread after I sent personal message. Sorry to hear about your problems. HOpe it will be sorted out.

Is the pt office affiliated with that drs practice? Sounds suspicious.

Yes, if your alignment is off PT/exercise will only aggravate your TKR. There really is no point in pushing for ROM if this is your problem.

I'm going to be honest with you that I don't get a good feeling about this surgeon for your case. There is very little information about him on the internet, but what I see indicates he is a general orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine doctor. You need a very specialized type of surgeon....not a generalist. You want someone who can accurately diagnose and fix your problem. This is not a time for a doctor inexperienced in a complex case like yours to be trying things. Meet with him if you like, but you need to have a serious discussion with him about how many revision knees he does each year. He should be able to tell you of multiple cases similar to yours that he's resolved. I don't think you're going to get that from this surgeon. How did you come to find him?

You say that Mayo is scheduling too far out. What is "too far"? In your situation, it is much more critical to find the right revision surgeon than it is to find someone quickly. I feel like you need to rethink this and lets find someone who has the expertise to really get to the heart of your problems.

@Jamie mayo is booking out for the knee orthopedic 4-5 months . I found the other doctor when I looked into revision specialist . He is new to the Florida area. He was practicing in Indiana where patients seemed to be very happy with him. Just wanna consult with him. If I feel he isn't the right fit then I will look into someone in the Boston area. Most likely my prior orthopedic when I lived up north because he was amazing .

@Josephine now that I am a week out from the mua, when is the recommended time to start pt? I do have an appointment with my orthopedic office Wednesday I am going to request an MRI be done. I really just want to get to the bottom of this on why I am not recovering properly. If implant isn't sitting correctly definitely want to know for sure.

I think you could always be doing some home exercises - gentle heel slides, leg lifts, etc. But if the implant is wonky, you likely won't make progress. I'm sorry you're struggling.

That sounds like a good plan. I'll be interested to hear how your consultation went with him since there was so little information out there on his specialties. Everything was very generic! I did see that he was in both Indiana and Ohio.

If you are able to see a revision specialist at Mayo they may be willing to put you on a cancellation list. In this case you need someone who specializes in problem TKRs.

I wouldn't do any PT until you find out the problem with your implant. To do so might be causing more problems than you already have. Please be patient. In many cases, and I believe you are one, exercising is detrimental to recovery. You need to find out exactly what's wrong first. And you need a high specialized revisionist to take a look at your knee. Good luck. We're all here holding you up and helping the best we can from all across the world!

So hard to find a good dr these days. Will definitely keep you posted .
