I really feel for your Dad- it sounds so rough on him- honestly, I really wasn't able to do very much for the first 4 weeks, because my knee was so swollen and stiff, even though I tried so hard, PT 3 X a week, home exercise twice a day- I don't get how Dr's and PT think you can bend it when it is swollen 3 times its normal size. Once, I cooled my heels and let it heal up by icing and elevating it several times a day, it is like a miracle- Within a week of the dramatic swelling going down, I am finally over a 100 ROM and can ride the bike for 12 minutes, I could not even do 1 revolution a week ago. So tell your Dad to hang tight- there are much better days ahead for him.
