At Surgery + 2 weeks I thought I had the routine down. You wake up in the morning really stiff but you take a couple of turns around the house and maybe up and down the stairs and everything is just fine. Today I woke up stiffness was a bit worse than usual, did the usual thing and nothing changed. Is this paying me back for doing too much yesterday.
Right now I'm laying in bed with my foot elevated. Anything else I should try?

edk...you'll have to try some patience.
That's alllllllllllllllllllllllllllll I can give you, buddy! As I remember, you've JUST mastered the "ROLL and TINKLE" move....(ain't I funny?)....SOOOOO, give it time. Your little bitty baby achey breaky knee just needs long term lovin!

I think Doug had better get back here quick--- for Ed's sake.....He needs to be mentored in the fine art of phrasing posts to protect himself from us....

Good morning Ed. I hope your knee loosens up and feels better soon. My PT has me do ankle pumps and heel slides first thing in the morning before I even get out of bed. Kind of helps with that morning stiffness and gets circulation going in that bad monkey leg again.

Off to school. Oregon spring break is over and it is snowing like the dickens this morning Just a skiff on the ground but looks pretty.

Yo, Peebody....I know you're a man and all...but, have you ever tried a hot grapefruit bubble bath (since you're a man, you can have it smell like chainsaw if you want)...in the morning? I soak in a hot bathtub full of bubbles every morning....it REALLY helps with stiffness!

Love the whole new vocab we all get in this process. I never before spoke of percs, ankle pumps, flex, heel slides, PT, OS,OP.

Patti is right, again, Ed. Just patience. I am at 15 weeks today and I still wake up stiff every morning. Need to get it warmed up and moving. Wish I could do the warm bath or hot tub in the morning, but I just don't have the time. I prefer to stay in my warm bed as long as possible before getting up. This morning I am delayed as we have icy road conditions. I'll be going in to work in a bit. Soon as the temp gets above freezing! Take care. You sound like you are doing great.

Jenn, you are right about the vocab thing, gives a whole new meaning to "She's a little too 'perky' for me". Note to Patti: I didn't mean you shuga. I'll also go head an say that not too many ah y'all ever said "just sayin" before...........just sayin.

I take prednisone for some autoimmune issues and when you take high doses it effects your mood and temperment. Edgy and quick to anger would only minimize it. Though my dose is now on the lower side the running household joke is "Watch out or mom will GO prednisone" or "Don't make me go all prednisone on you!" Perky fits right in.

I keep hearing the question "Did you just take a pain pill, Mom?" And I'm not sure what that means - am I acting strange? looking like I'm in no pain? What??

I have had sinus problems for years and taken several different prescription meds for that. I was on 'something' for a while that did the same thing to me. It took a few weeks to make the association, slow learner that I am, but it was like I was a different person for awhile. Someone could say, "How are you today?", and I'd go off with like "Why do you want to know? Its none of your &$#&$ business how I'm doing".
These drugs can do some 'funny stuff'.

I'm with you Gat. Sometimes my kids suggest I take a pain med...

I used to get weepy right after taking my meds... now I get mellow. They like to make fun on me, so I'm fueling that habit. Love to take one now but I have a teleconference in 8 minutes and I might need to be coherent. See you all later!!

My son just looks at my eyes. "you just too a pain pill didn't you Mom?..." I had a dose at 11 so next one is full strength at 3 to kick in for 3:45 PT. (That's Physical therapy not pacific time for anyone still learning the new vocab)

My knee is extremely stiff in the morning, during the night, just about all the time.
I can get it to 90, but not an easy task. It just feels so so tight around the top of my knee. I just get up and walk around the house, it helps. I can't sit in the tub, know there is no way I will be able to sit down or get out. I don't have a hot tub, but do wish I did.
I do stand in the hot shower and bend it back and forth and that helps, but of course can't stand in there all day.
It is a slow process, for some of us slower than others. Just keep working at it, several times a day. I don't go to extremes as I cannot deal with a lot of swelling and pain, so for me I would rather take a bit longer. Even my other knee done in Jan. still gets stiff, but I can tell you it is way better already.
