PT was here again today! ROM was 90 for right and 85 for left. I guess that's not too bad after being home for 7 days. Was hoping for more but will settle for what I did! I go to the Dr.'s office Tuesday to get my staples out. My goal for Tuesday is 100 for both knees. My PT says I'm doing fantastic for only being home from the hospital 7 days. I feel I'm doing "O.K.". Am I pushing myself to hard? I am also able to lift my left knee-leg all the way up when I'm laying down. Used to be only the right leg would lift but now I've got my left leg all the way up. Boy do I ever feel those muscles working. Still sleeping through the night and I'm only taking one pain pill per day...I still have the pain patch on...it's 25mg. I was so ready for the pain...but doing just fine without it LOL.:hehe: . Time to get back to my exercises again. Will post again soon! LOVE TO ALL OF YOU!

Wow Cindy that is really great you shoud be very proud of your self. Keep up the good work. We are all behind ya......Go Cindy!!!!!!lol..:)

You are incredible!

I am five weeks post-op and was happy to reach 95 degrees with one knee and 100 degrees with the other.

Keep up the good work. You are an inspiration.

Cindy,

Amazing!!! You are our next poster child for BTKRs. Before you know it, you'll be up baking cookies for your PT. (Just Kidding!)

Don't push too hard, remember to rest, ice and elevate too. I have finally gotten 90 degrees on my own and I'm at 4 months and had a MUA. Lots of hard work, but well worth it.

When you go under anesthesia and he re- bends your leg real far to break up scar tissue......He just pushes and pushes your knee back so it will bend to the fullest almost like normal because the scar tissue keeps the knee from bending......worked for me the scar tissue built up so bad I was doing my exercises crying but it would bend it was at 68 and wouldnt move he did the MAU and he got it to like 30 and i got it to 129....Sore for a few days but ok...I had like 6 prior surgeries so there was way t much scar tissue...But dont even think about that you doing fine....

Manipulation under Anesthesia. They knock you out and work the adhesions loose from the joint. Once the swelling goes down, you can start the hard work on improving your ROM. OS was only able to get mine to 110. 3+ weeks later I am at 90 degrees without too much pain.

If it wasn't for the tightness in the IT band (outside knee) and area around where the metal meets the bone behind calf and thigh, I would be able to bend much more. Working hard daily in pool and 3x week pt, plus real life activities and stretches at home.

Will be glad when all this is behind me and I can get around normal again w/o all the focus on the knee. Alas I still have the LTKR to go, soon.

GREAT WORK, CINDY!!:thmb:
CALLING...........THAT choc chip cookie looks AMAZING!

Yummy Yummy! Cookie was great! Been wanting something sweet!

Well, you're doing well but don't be in a fret to do it all in the first few days. Your ROM will be reduced at this time because of swelling and because you still have your staples in. But don't try and do it all immediately. There's no rush. You can let nature take it's course and just do the exercises in a leisurely way - you'll still get there. Stop feeling like you're going to miss the train if you don't push and rush! It's not like that at all. Some surgeons don't even let their patients do more than very basic exercises until the third week and they get along just fine.

I'm not suggesting that, when the time comes, you don't work hard at your PT but now now. Too soon.

Jo,
You know you have to keep telling your little chicks that all the time!!! Somehow we forget that slow and easy wins the race everytime!!!!!!!!!! LOL

Cindy so glad you liked the cookie.

:thmb:Cindy...you are doing wonderful. I agree with Jo..don't push too hard..this is not a race. You body still has much healing to do. I am almost 5 months and can feel a major difference each day...recovery is a trip...one destination at a time.

You wonderful
Barb
