I got the call from the hospital today. Need to be there at 5:00 am on Monday morning. By noon on Monday I will be a post op. I have fears, but I'm looking forward to my new way of life. Looking forward to a more active life style with my new tire. I fear the pain of recovery. I hope I have guts to all that I'm told to do. I hoping that I have the patience for recovering. I know once the knee has been replaced, there only one way out, through the work and effort. I will need help from you guys, on the patience thing. Let me thank you now, in case I forget to do that. Thanks for all your insights and wisdom through the last 8 weeks that I have been posting. Thanks Bob

Hey Bob glad you atleast get it in th morning in case things gt back up your not just sitting at the hosp....I wish you th best of luck and hope you post when your on the other side.....you will be fine and we are all behind you........take care.........all that hard work will pay off............)

Thanks Kim, I had requested to be the first, and they came through. I'm a fan of my OS. In Hartford CT he is know as the "King of Knees". I have all the faith and trust in him. He's the man. Thanks for your words of encouragement. I will post as soon as possible.
Having people like you behind me, makes the process just that much easier. Thanks Bob

Best wishes for Monday Bob, you will be fine. I'm not sure I can help on the patience front, I'm probably one of the most impatient. But really, you have no choice but to try and embrace patience.
You will do great, I'm sure, see on the other side when you are a real 'BoneSmartie'.
Take Care, Dawnie. XX

God will give you patience, Bob. You just have to rest in the knowledge that you are doing the best for your knee and for yourself. Pushing won't get you farther earlier but it can hold you back a lot. Which do you want? Something to mull on ......

Bob, the operation will be a breeze, don't worry about that, you will sleep right through it! I am at 3 weeks post op today, but I remember the pre op period very well. I was a bit anxious the days before surgery, here is what I suggest for getting though it. Go out for a nice dinner tonight or tomorrow night, have a couple glasses of wine and enjoy it. Sunday night take a sleeping pill and try to get a good night's sleep. You have to be in the hospital so early in the AM that Monday morning I promise you that you will not have time to worry. I was first case too, by request, I had to be in at 6AM. Once you get taken in to the pre op area things start moving. You will be busy, get undressed, IV start, see your surgeon, see the anesthesiologist, see nurses, nurses, nurses. You answer the same questions over and over. The last thing I remember was someone walking me somewhere, then I woke up in recovery and my husband said it was all over.I didn't believe him until I looked under the sheets and saw the bandage on my leg.
So you see Bob, the surgery is the easy part.
The hospital part is tough because of the pain, but once that is under control you will be suprised at what you can do.
After you get home just follow the orders of you PT and you will do fine.
And remember to ICE, ICE, ICE!
Good luck Bob!

Ditto what everyone else said! Glad you are first, I was 3rd, and the waiting is the worst. Terri is right, the surgery is the easy part!!! Meds, exercise, ice, nap, repeat! There's your schedule for the next couple of weeks. I'm also 3 weeks out, and it's getting better every day.
Good luck, prayers and good thoughts headed your way Monday

These guys are 100% right! I'll be thinking of you on Monday and looking forward to hearing from you when you can get back on the 'pooter. This is your New Beginning!!!

Good luck Bob. You will recover fine. Just come back here to visit us and we will help you through it! It can only get better. I hope you have a good weekend-try to keep busy and pamper yourself.

Helen

Thank you all, this is an amazing site. I will take something away from all the above post. I will exhale, go to dinner, enjoy a movie, be still and get ready for the ride of a lifetime. Thank you in advance for putting up with whatever comes my way, good or bad. Monday will be here soon enough, and having a great support system in place, I will need a shoulder from time to time during the process, and I now know where to find one, anytime. To all of you who are about to have the surgery, good luck be well and safe, to those who are in different stages of the recovery process, keep the wisdom flowing, there's someone like me in need of what you know. Thanks again for being there for me. Bob
