BoneSmart's mission statement includes the following statement:

Welcome to BoneSmart®. Each month over 100,000 people like you seek the most comprehensive knee and hip replacement information from this site.

If you are a total or partial hip or knee replacement surgery patient, this website provides you with insight into traditional and alternative materials used in modern implant surgery, giving you the information you need to discuss your options with the surgeon of your choice.

This site is a public service of FARM Orthopedics, the Foundation for the Advancement in Research in Medicine, which is dedicated to patient awareness of joint implant surgery that improves the lives of people with orthopaedic disabilities.

First of all, I would like to draw to your attention to the formidable library of information and learned commentary about all pertinent procedures and materials in the main © BoneSmart ® website.

Secondly, the BoneSmart patient discussion forum exists to provide an arena where members may gather to offer one another support, encouragement and information about their own joint replacement journey. But first and foremost it is a site where information and advice can be offered and shared.

Where questions are asked, information and explanations will be given on behalf of BoneSmart and FARM. The BoneSmart team will endeavour, at all times, to be as even-handed as possible, giving both pros and cons of any procedure or the materials employed therein.

However, what BoneSmart is not, is simply a discussion or social board. For this reason we prefer not to see lots of what we tend to refer to as 'fluff' posts meaning post of little or no consequence or relevance to the purpose of the forum. If this is the style you prefer to engage in, then please take your discussion to Facebook or some similar site.
