Arthroscopy Meniscus surgery - TKR 6 months later

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone else has had a Meniscus surgery then 3 months later a cortisone shot, then 3 months after that a TKR all in same knee? I am 2.5 months out of my TKR and am having a hard time with stairs and weight bearing getting up from a seated position.
I am doing PT 2 x a week. It’s just frustrates some people think I should be running marathons at this point . I feel I am doing the best I can. My PT keeps telling me everyone is different etc, but I’m getting super depressed!!

This recovery takes an average of a year, and most people don’t realize that. Even some who have had a TKR, often forget what the recovery was really like.

I‘m sure you are doing the best you can and that’s all we can do. Each of us recovers differently and we can’t compare ourselves to anyone else.

Your knee has had 3 procedures in a short time, it may need some extra time to sort itself out. Try to hang in there, you can’t rush this recovery.

Please give us the date of the Meniscus surgery and we’ll add that to your signature.

I will leave you our Recovery Guidelines. Each article is short but very informative. Following these guidelines will help you have a less painful recovery.

Just keep in mind all people are different, as are the approaches to this recovery and rehab. The key is, “Find what works for you.“ Your doctors, PTs and BoneSmart are available to help, but you are the final judge as to the recovery approach you choose.

Knee Recovery: The Guidelines
1. Don’t worry: Your body will heal all by itself. Relax, let it, don't try and hurry it, don’t worry about any symptoms now, they are almost certainly temporary
2. Control discomfort:

take your pain meds by prescription schedule (not when pain starts!)​

don't overwork.​

3. Do what you want to do BUT

a. If it hurts, don't do it and don't allow anyone - especially a physical therapist - to do it to you​

b. If your leg swells more or gets stiffer in the 24 hours after doing it, don't do it again.​

Not 6 months but close to it. A lot of that is insurance issues. They have to try all that to get Astoria for the tkr.

Is it common for both knees to be needed to be done, I had my TKR done on my left and now I am starting to feel the same issues with my right knee. The thought of going through another TK is so daunting as I am only 10 weeks out of my first. I made an appointment with my doctor for an xray but it isn't until 10/28.
