Is there a way to measure the flex or bend degree of the
knee with out the tool the PT uses.

Someone asked this on one of the post but have never
seen the answer.

My PT does this.

Not that I know of.

Though a member did tell me once he had planned to make a protractor out of 2 pieces of wood screwed together at one end. These he would use like th goniometer and then use his son's school protractor to measure the angle.

That might work, but might not be too accurate. Oh well, I can tell I am making progress by how far I can get my foot under the chair and keep it there. I will have to wait until my mid-JUne Dr. appt. He will measure. Thanks

lake
When you get your foot under the chair does it feel a little stiff and
tight or does it just go under with no problem

Was it you that said they get better flexion with heat or do I have the wrong person. And if I do sorry but have you tried heat, not for a long time but just to bend then ice after excercise......Kim

texas
First are u from Tx? I am from Central.
No I would not try heat as it will cause more swelling

I thought so but it sure does sound good. really were. I am in pflugerville. !!!!!!! I was wondering if anyone from Texas was on here........

you are not going to believe this Leander actually chrystal falls
who did you use for your os

Goldburg he is ranked really high I was able to get in because
he is a friend of one of my doctors

Yeah good to have connections it comes in handy. I wish I would have found someone else , mine uggg. But leander not far at all. Son plays football there sometimes. That is neat your right there.......

He is over by Seton NW on 183 but he does his surgery at hosp
on mopac. It is set up for knee and hip replacement surgery.

He is really good glad I got in. He makes sure his patients are confortable. He is really into PT and moving. He says don't get the surgery if you are not going to do the time for PT.
I am at 6 1/2 weeks and about 110 now. At my 6 wks last Fri he
said I was a little a head and asked if I needed more pain pills. I
said no because I don't like the hard stuff, but I am allergic to pain
meds and other meds so not much they can give. Thank goodness I
have a high tolerance to pain. I do take an advil every 4 to 6 hrs.
and ice all the time. He also gets a ice machine for his patients.
He puts it on them in surgery and they go home with it. Really neat.
Looks like a cooler with a hose and at the end of the hose is a pad
that ice water flows in. Hubby fills with ice and water and it last
me all day. Sooooo easy.
I am walking with out any help except outside. I am 68 so
think I am doing good, but I am in good health also and most
think I am in my late 50's. My kids and grandkids keep me young

That is terrific, some Drs now days I just dont know (mine). I am going to a new OS in June to figure out the piece of metal in my knee ? You are 68 and you are bending and all that wow you are my new hero. I am 5 weeks I cant drop the crutches. I just dont feel safe. I dont know maybe that will come. I try all the time, just cant. Keep up the good work you are surely on the right path...

Wow loggon, that is very neat sounding machine. We all should have one of these to take home! I did a lot of limping back and forth between freezer and recliner....

This is the Cryo-Cuff machine. I got one for my op and will keep it by ready for op number two! Couldn't have done without it. They also provided me with one to use while I was in hospital.

Texas (Kim)

The ice machines are great. Also had a milestone for me. I drove
today. I am at 6 wks. Am walking with out the cane in the house
but use it outside. Doing a lot more around the house.

The PT measured me and said I was at 110 degree and that was out
her help. So if she would have pushed it some it would have been
more. Was really happy. Might not be much rom for some but at
68 and leaving the hospital at 52 degrees think I have done good
for at 6 weeks. Just thougt I would let you know.
Hope you are feeling better

Are you kidding, that is wild 52 I was at 68 and that stunk. But you picked yours up real real high. That is amazing. Congrats on driving by time I drive they will change the rules haha. I just cant walk on it, not sure why I dont trust it for some reason. I try alot but I grab something I get scared............

I meant bending at 68. now between 90-100 it really hurts to push, I know we have to but wow. I didnt know before the surgery we would have to learn how to bend all over again..........but I think you are doing a terrific job......
