Has anyone had a manipulation because of extension problems? I am stuck at 25 and 110. My PT thinks I might need a manipulation. Even when he pushes down on it 25 is about as good as we can get. It seems very solid and also has some pain. I did have an infection and blood clot in my lower leg so did not start pt for 21/2 weeks after surgery which was on 12-18-08. Thanks Paul

Welcome to the forum, Paul. Offhand I can't recall any past threads where someone had a manipulation specifically because of extension problems. But lots of folks have had manipulations and they almost always result in immediate improvement. Our forum nurse, Josephine, will check in here soon and she may have some additional information for you.

Welcome, Paul, You've come to the right place!
I'm a hippie, but just wanted to welcome you & hope you get relief SOON!!!!! :)

Welcome Paul. I had an MUA 7 months after my RTKR. It improved my ROM somewhat and helped with my extension too. When do you see your surgeon again? He will be the one to decide.

Good luck, Sue

Sounds like you had a nasty go with your knee, Paul. But glad you found us for some support.

I have seen extension problems although flexion problems are more common. But your history more than explains the reason why. One can never exactly say how much improvement an MUA is going to achieve but we'll all be rooting for you and praying it gets to the max!

Welcome to BoneSmart, btw!

Hey Paul. I had a MUA on my knee at 8 months. I was at 115 which wasn't so bad but my extension was around -15 to -20. It was very painful and difficult to stand and the MUA made all the difference in the world. Now my leg is basically straight and my flex is around 125. My setback was sciatica down the operated leg after surgery. There was no way that leg was going straight while experiencing that pain. Karen

Oh, and welcome Paul!
