Oh well somehow I knew it was coming and as my therapist and I thought the OS would say it's time for manipulation. I guess 90 degrees of ROM simply will not cut it? I figured so. If anyone that has gone through this and would like to discuss the procedure please PM me and we will chat. I have a very bad feeling about this and I hope I am wrong......

I had manipulation about 4 weeks ago and it got so much better, although the first 2 weeks were painful. How many weeks post knee replacement are you? I was at 105 degrees and now I am at 126. I have just been released from PT and I go back to the OS tomorrow. I am back at work but I am having a lot of swelling and some chronic pain.

The procedure was pretty simple: I just went in out pt, got an IV and IV sedation, woke up and went home. I was in a lot of pain and took pain medication round the clock.

Here is my thread if you want to read it:
Manipulation tomorrow AM pray for all to go well

I hope all goes well for you also

Thanks Guy's you know I don't know why I was fooling myself thinking that this was not going happen? I only wish that my OS would have gotten this moving a little sooner because I am running out of time at work and they want me back now. Well at least I am going to get another epideral and they are going to keep me over night because of all the trouble I had after surgery with pain. I have also lined up pain treatment localy this time. I have a bad feeling that this is going to be tough there is lots of scar tissue there to go through. But If you ladies can do it so can I! But I don't think I am comparing apples to apples.............Darn Motercyle........

Hi Janet! When I read this it helps me to think more of a positive plain. Maybe it won't be as bad as I am thinking after all? I can't help but picture a big old swollen mess.I hope I have halve the luck you have had. Congratulations!

"Big old swollen mess"?? Good grief - what ever did you imagine they are going to do to you!! It's just a bend back and forth to make it go and though it won't be without some discomfort after the event, it certainly won't be THAT bad! Actually,
just in case you were worried about it, the adhesions/scar tissue has almost no blood supply so there shouldn't be any bleeding at all or very, very little. You will be fine!

Well Guy's and Gal's it's over! And thank God it helped! For me it was as bad as I thought besides the big swollen mess lol! I did have a very hard time pain wise but I believe that I will always have this problem with sesitivity with this leg due to all the scar tissue from the accident that I was in 24 years ago. But I will say even with all the pain I would do it again! I gained upwards of 16 degrees of rom and my therapist and I believe that there is more for sure and to me that is a success! I highly recommend this to anyone that is stuck in the hands of a skilled surgeon like mine you can't go wrong! I am so happy now that there will be a little celebration this weekend because I'm going back to work!!

Ralph,

Glad to hear that you are happy with the results. What is your ROM now? Are you sure you want to go back to work so soon? Don't over do your party and congratulations on your outcome.

God Bless
Rick

Ralph,
I am so glad it went well for you and you are happy with the results. Keep working and you will gain more once the swelling calms down.
Best,
Crystal

Well guy's to be totally honest I am really not ready to go back yet and as far as me being happy about the Rom well I thought that there would be much more but after today it looks as though I will be lucky to get back to my original 110 degrees. I am not complaining at all after all I was at 110 degrees for the last 24 years and functioned just fine withen that range. Thanks to all that have been following along and I will report when I reach 120 Rom lol!!

Hi Ralph, Glad you are getting a better ROM now. I am 9 months out and even after my MUA back in July still only have a 107 ROM. My surgeon says I am one of those people who swell and also that it may take me 12-18 months to fully recover. However, having said that, I can walk well, go up and downstairs somewhat normally most of the time, and the most important thing, I am no longer in pain!! I live a near normal life, look forward to the time I can get off the floor comfortably and be able to kneel and put my right sock on easily again. If he suggestsanother MUA I will go for it, I would really like to get to 120 one day!!

Keep persevering it will feel easier soon. Good luck....Sue

Ralph -

Awesome News! Hang in there - Things will get better. I know how important it is to get back to work - but take care of this - You want to make sure you are taking care of all that you gained - It was hard to stay home this week - but ughh - I had to go in for meetings this am. Worked 8 to 12 then to pt - then back to get the kid - Whooosh - I guess that was a lot - I just woke up - have actually been sleepng with the cpm at 120 for 6 or 7 hours - I must have been tired - Take Care of that new ROM!
