It's been 9 weeks since my RTKR and everything has been going great. The only problem I have is I now have lower back pain. I am assuming it's because I now am walking straighter. I noticed it when I am standing for a while in one spot, and now this morning I woke up with back pain. Anyone have any suggestions for exercises I can do to strengthen the back muscles?

I went through a series of pains and muscle soreness due to the re-alignment.
1. Heels lasted about 3 weeks
2. Calfs and shin pain about 2 weeks
3. Lower back about 1 month
4. Foot pain while walking (replaced all old shoes)
5. Muscle cramps in hips (still have from time to time)

All of these can be attributed to re-alignment, the longer you limped and hobbled before surgery the more of an issue it becomes after surgery. At nine months post all have gone away except for the ocassional hip cramp.

Not to mention how much more active we are after the surgery.

Good luck!

See a chiropractor! He'll sort your back out and help it to adjust to the newness of everything. You could also try a TENS machine.

I think its a matter of walking weird for so long now we are trying to walk correct take other advice it does get better I had different pains as well...Good Luck to ya !!!!!!!! Post anytime.....)

Type in tens machine in the search it should bring it up. Jo has a pic
of it.

It helps with the pain.

My back hurt for a while after using the walker and the cane, but it went away after walking on my own for a while.
