Hello all,
I am 6 months out from a Total hip replacement (Right hip),
I am still having pain down the front of my leg and along the side of my
leg to the knee and a little further down. My leg feels stiff and is still
swollen some. When I went to my OS he said around the incision felt
soft, I wasn't sure what he meant by that. He has told me to continue
doing my hip exercises. Did he mean the muscles were soft or what.
Yes I know I should have asked him what he meant. Walking is still
painful. Sitting and laying down is ok. Could this be a loose stem??
I tried looking for loose stem pain but all I found was the recall on the
Zimmer cup.
Any advise would be helpful!!! :sigh:

Hey Shop Im a knee but i wish you the best, others will be along soon....Hang in there.........Sure hope you feel better soon............)

Gail! Call your OS back and ask for an explanation! I'm sure you don't have a." Loose stem" but just tell him how nervous you were and need clarifification!!! ((:0)

First, I moved your thread, Gail.

As for this rather enigmatic statement by your surgeon, I would imagine he did mean your muscles were out of condition. What you have described is very typical of an IT band inflammation which is very common at this stage. Read this thread IT Band. You might also visit a PT or a chiropractor and see if they can help. Possibility of it being anything akin to a loose stem is remote.
