I too would like to hear from others about a TKR revision. I had my original left total knee done in 2004. It is now 2023...so it is almost 20 years old. FYI....I am now 68 years old.
I have severe osteoarthritis....have had 26 orthopedic surgeries since 1994...if it bends they have done surgery on it....elbows, knees, hips, feet, hands, etc.
I am afraid to go see my surgeon for fear that he will suggest a revision. What were your symptoms before you sought medical advice from your surgeon? I have a little swelling and stiffness on the inside of the knee and if I step wrong a sharp pain shoots up from the inside of the knee joint.
This had been going on for 5 days now, and I put myself in a knee brace, but that is not helping the shooting pain. I get the pain when I put weight on the knee joint...such as getting up from a recliner, etc. Has anyone gone longer than 20 years with the original replacement?
Also does anyone that has had a revision also have osteoporosis? I have rather severe osteoporosis, and have heard horror stories of the new stem not working due to the bones not holding the new stem, etc. Please advise, would love to hear your experiences. thanks in advance.
