If you would like to view a live operation of a total knee replacement, broken link removed: https://www.orlive.com/shawneemission/videos/total-knee-replacement provides a video of the entire procedure. It is actual surgery and therefore graphic, so please be aware that the video may not be for everyone.

Below the video window are a series of links to interviews with a couple of the doctors at this hospital (Shawnee Mission Medical Center in Overland Park, Kansas) concerning a number of topics that frequently are discussed in threads on BoneSmart:

* Benefits of a TKR
* Who is a good candidate for a TKR
* Length of stay in the hospital after a TKR
* Measuring the success of a knee replacement
* Steps involved in a knee replacement
* Life before and after a TKR
* Differences in the various types of knee implants

Just click on any of the interview links to play the video. The information displayed in this link is not promoting any one implant over another nor any doctor or hospital.

Thanks, Jamie. I just watched them all except the actual procedure. I can't do it!

I really liked the interviews with the docs.

Thank you.

Glad you thought they were helpful. I did too. I liked the way the doctors spoke about the procedures and there was no effort to sway anyone toward anything. It took me a year to be able to look at actual knee surgeries. For the longest time, I would feel creepy twinges in my leg when I'd try to watch...it was strange. But now I'm okay with it. You may feel better about it later. If you can get past the "yuk" factor, it's interesting.
