THR Linette333 is in recovery<

Oh, bummer, @linette333, to read about those pesky back issues and the return of the piriformis muscle problem. But I agree you probably just overdid things and are now paying the price. With continued use of the paracetamol and some targeted help from your physio, I predict you'll be back on course shortly. Everyone has these little setbacks and it's hard to know exactly what caused 'em. Just take a deep breath and realize that this is just temporary. Otherwise you're doing great, and isn't it wonderful that despite these new aches and pains you are still able to do all your normal activities. Chin up!

I'm sorry @linette333
So disappointing when you were feeling so great and barely giving a thought to your new hip. I hope your physio has some ideas to help bring you relief.
Wishing you comfort and a return to feeling great soon!

Oh @linette333 I'm so sad to hear residual pains are coming back to bite. You have experienced some periods of pain free normal life so I know it's still possible for you!. I'm keeping fingers (but not legs!) crossed that you find relief soon, from some practitioner or method or exercise. Keep the faith, it's a long haul but we'll get there. :loveshwr:

Hi, my Triple 3 hippy friend.

Wondering how your new hip was feeling as you are nearing the 6 month mark?
Also really hoping your back issues were not troubling you still.

Thanks for checking up on me @mojo - 6 months already, you're right!
I wish I could write a totally positive 6 month update, but of course I can't. My hip continues to be wonderful and I am so glad I had the surgery. When I think back to how I was this time last year, I am so grateful. I am back to doing aqua classes and everything else. I am now able to sleep comfortably on both sides at last for as long as I like - a great relief! The aching when I get up in the morning has gone too.
However the left leg is still causing problems. :groan: The physio I was seeing gave up on me and wrote to the GP recommending a referral. So I have seen a spinal specialist and had an MRI. He is suggesting a steroid injection as he thinks it is a trapped nerve, but I am seeing him again next week now that I have had the MRI.
Meanwhile I am getting on with things and trying not to let it hold me back at all. I am taking paracetamol occasionally and a nerve-blocker at night.
Finally, to end on a positive note, I can honestly say that at 6 months post op I am scarcely giving my replaced hip a thought!

:happydance:

Hello Linette,
It's nice to hear how well you're doing, hip wise, at six months post op. Thanks for updating. I'm sorry you're dealing with an issue that's holding you back from fully enjoying the benefits of your THR. I hope that either the injection or the spine specialist are an answer to your pain and discomfort so you're able to move forward.

Wishing you only the best at your appointment next week. I hope you have a Merry Christmas and a pain free 2020!
@linette333

I certainly am happy for you on the hip update. Hip hip hooray!:yes!:
I would imagine it's a toss up between hope they do or don't find something regarding the MRI???
I do hope you get answers and may be an injection can give you some relief.
Really want you to have a Merry Christmas.

Hoping you get some answers and relief from those niggling pains soon, so you can dance into 2020! :egypdance: Take care my friend. You're 95% there. Sending healing hugs. :friends:

Oh what a bummer re the pain. I am sorry ! Delighted your new hip is not giving you grief though! Hopefully they will be able to find out what is bugging you and sort it! All good wishes coming your way!

:xmas-wave-smiley-emoticon: my Triple 3 friend.

Want to relay good wishes for continued improvement and a joyful holiday.:merry-xmas-smiley-emoticon:

Hey @linette333
Happy One Year Anniversary! (a day early )
We’d love to read an update since it’s been quite awhile since we last heard from you.
Hopefully over the past six months you‘ve enjoyed progress and with any luck your right leg is no longer a source of discomfort. :fingersx:
Enjoy the weekend...hope to hear from you soon! :)

One year, triple 3?:wowspring:
Happy Hipversary to you.
I actually had some on going niggles at one year...when I was extra active especially and saw things strengthen and settle even after...
Hope you are doing well!!!

One year ago today! @Layla and @Mojo333 Thank you both for thinking of me.
Ì have just read through this thread and I am amazed at the progress I have made. It is true that it takes a full year to really see the full results. My hip feels totally "normal " now and I rarely give it a thought - except to marvel at it! I am doing all the activities I like with no problems.
During this Lockdown, I have spent much of the time gardening and walking. This time last year both these activities would have been impossible for me, so I am so grateful for this surgery.
Ì do still have some nerve pain ( discomfort really) on the left leg, but this has been thoroughly investigated and is something I will just have to live with. It isn't really a problem.
Ì would like to thank all of you on this forum for all the guidance and support: @Layla, @Mojo333, @Elf1 , @Fiona444 , @CricketHip , @Calgal , @Cecropia, to name but a few. Best wishes to all my fellow June Sunbeams 2019 - I hope you are all out there enjoying your new hips!

It’s really nice to hear from you, Linette and read you’re doing so well. Thank you for responding!

The year did fly by and now that you mention Fiona444 and Cecropia, I wonder how they’re doing also. Will have to check and see if either responds.

Calgal recently celebrated her one year anniversary also and we did hear from her. It was a nice update and she’s doing well also. Check it out if you haven’t already.

I‘m sorry you’re still dealing with the nerve pain and realize it’s some thing you may have to live with. Thankfully you noted it really isn’t a problem. More of an annoyance I’m assuming.

I hope you have a lovely Summer enjoying all that you love!
@linette333

@linette333 Happy One Year Anniversary! Amazing looking back at all the things we've all been through together. So happy to hear you're doing so well.

Happy Hippie-versary!! A full year!
We had some fun while recovering last year. :happydance:
I for one am glad it’s behind us, though.
my right hip still gives me some pings but hopefully it never gets any worse than were it’s at currently.
The gardening feels so much better with new hips. For sure!
