The thing about these prosthetic joints...my surgeon's PA reminded me, is that they will never match our natural ones, but do get pretty close. You've been through A LOT with that hip so I'm not too surprised you have a little residual effect. Thankfully it doesn't seem to be stopping you from living your best life, which is fantastic.

Truth be told majority of us have these hiccups along the way. I can go days and feel 100% fine, don't even think about hip then, BANG, hip reminds me it's there and needs/wants my attention.
Not enough to slow me down just a little ache or pain that quickly resolves.

Hello! @SCaprae I was advised by Layla of BoneSmart to reach out to you. I had a Total Knee Replacement on Jan 18, 2023. I did so well, but in October, pain returned and continually got worse. I was informed last week that I have a bad infection and the surgeon who did my TKR does not do revisions. I am an established patient at Mayo/Rochester, but not for a TKR. Layla mentioned that you had your THR Revision done at Mayo and I would very much like to know if you could share who your Mayo surgeon was and were you pleased with his expeience and the outcome of your revision process. My local ortho surgeon referred me to a surgeon in Sioux City due to the fact that they are associates of the CNOS group in Sioux City. I am meeting with him on the 15th, and will hopefully receive answers to my many questions. However, I believe I would be more comfortable having it done at Mayo. Thank you and am grateful for any information you can share with me.

Update on my biggest complaint. I have been using accupuncture for the past 5+ years and finally communicated more accurately exactly what/where it hurt. Treatment was modified (different point(s) aimed towards the ligament. Cautiously optimistic and “Wow”. I actually was favoring it for a couple days after treatment until I realized that it had improved/ kind of like “hollering in case it hurts” when receiving an unexpected fall or bump. My treatment interval is 3 weeks & I’m anxious to see what the next provides.

Good morning all,
We’ve returned from a month in Green Valley Az. & all is well. Daily (almost) use of the swimming pools available has increased range of motion along with overall wellbeing. It’s good to be back at my “puddle” & already have begun demolition of the kitchen in preparation for cupboards & cabinets that are nearly ready for installation. Ruby also enjoyed the trip but was glad to return, see her Gray Kitty. Off the the Dentist and have my pre-procedure antibiotics “on board”

Have been kept busy w/ remodeling the kitchen for the last couple months. Completely reconfigured, cut in a new window (over the new sink location/ centered on N wall) relocated the dishwasher, new stove & refrigerator (now have “craft ice” as well as thru the door ice). Completely er-plumbed 1/2 of the house (after making sure the newly installed underfloor hydronic heat zone worked lat winter. Tore out carpet, old flooring, installed 450 sq ft of new plank (mannington ultra max) flooring. Went w/ hickory upper, lower cabinets, along with cultured marble counter & full back splash. Painting & lighting yet to complete. Also nursing a “bum” knee/ MRI on Tuesday. Keeping busy with Sunday Bloodies as well and.

Wow...you have been busy! Sounds like a lot of work, but I bet you'll love the result. Assuming the hips are holding up. Sorry your knee is bothering you. Let us know how the MRI goes.

cookie is doing well, she’s adjusted to the reality that she has reached maximum medical improvement. She’s go a substantial lift/heigh adjustment in 1 shoe & uses a cane, but is up and around. Has had dental work done (dental junket to Mexico) though only caps/crowns. No implants due to the presence of infection that she’ll be taking antibiotics for permanently. This is a much more palatable option than what she’s faced during her journey. We all must make the best of our individual challenges.

Good morning,

Just an update as I’ve been quiet for a while. Things are going well! Working with an aging body (knee), as we’re all aware our “prime” is no longer in front of us.

Normal wear & tear is something we’ve all had a taste of (or we wouldn’t have found this site). An injection has greatly helped my knee, but the best is learning that I’m far from needing a replacement. Hips are working as they should/ knee exam reinforced that both sides are good w/ placement & fully anchored and will serve quite well for a very long time (even though I’m a member of the Over did/do it club). Thankful the help was/is available and encourage others who are apprehensive to seek it.

My friend Cookie is doing well also ( she’s an inspiration).

Good morning my THR friends,

Only good reports to share today. Spent the last month in Arizona, returned just in time for the first snow of the season. I’m getting around very well ( losing some weight didn’t hurt), Ruby’s had her 7th birthday while we were gone. My friend Cookie is doing very well also.

Wish to thank you folks for providing a place where I (and others) could turn to when needed during our “journeys”. Sharing the experience and knowledge was/is priceless.
