My 75 year old mother had hip replacement surgery 3 months ago. She is recovering fine and is able to walk without a cane. Question is, will she EVER be able to bend over to pick something up or sit down to do gardening? Or the restrictions are for the life time? Any advice would be great!

LOL! No they are not for lifetime! Only the first few months - 3 or 4 maybe, surgeons differ in their choice. Just to give the muscles time to heal and get back the normal tone and the joint is no longer in danger of dislocating. After that it's life as normal.

I have many friends who have had THRs and believe me, they cycle ride, dance, garden, hike, rock climb and run - even marathons! Though I guess your mother might not be doing that!
