This is not at all uncommon in the first few days for both hips and knees but don't get panicky about it if you really can't do them. It's not going to be a disaster if it takes even 3-4 weeks. The key is to try gently for a while - anything from a few days to a few weeks - and use some of these tips to help you get there.
Half leg raise
1. Put a pillow or rolled up blanket under your leg, just above your knee, then just raise the foot
Using an aid
2. use a leg lifter to help you leg up
Using your other foot
3. finally - hook your other foot under the ankle and give it a lift up!
