Well, I bought the gang at the Cleveland Clinic branch where I went for PT pizzas today---what a neat group of people. All cleared now---PT is on my own---up to a195 lbs on the leg-press machine...the PT said 220 would be enough. finished with all of the balancing exercises--the Bosu ball, the elastic cords with me walking over boxes---while I am sore and tired, BOY< DO I FEEL GOOD!

Tim C.

Congrats! What a lot of hard work!

I'm watching a Mariners game right now and watching that ump behind the plate. He's giving those knees quite a workout! Send us pics of you when you get back behind the plate again!

Yea Tim! No more physical therapy! For Christmas, I gave my crew a big gift certificate to Starbucks for the addicts they are! I too developed quite the friendship with my PT crew. 195 on the leg press is great!

Have you all done the elastic band thing where you have it attached to you and you have to walk over hurdles or different sized boxes--sideways as well? Anybody do any balancing on the Bosu ball (do you know what I am talking about?)

Running is out for me---but working the plate---I can do squats all day long.

Just out of curiosity, what is your PT protocol when you visit the PTSplace---I would imagine we all start out by riding the bike for a while---then what do you folks do?

Congratulations Tim. Just in time to "play ball"

Ref....you're bound to have buns of steel!!!!
You've put SO much effort into this PT.
Way to go!!!

I warm up on the NuStep machine then do pool therapy for the rest of my active time. (ROM is not an issue for me)
My pool therapy is "jogging" "bicycling" and "scissors" in 5' deep water while suspended with a "noodle" or a special dive suit with football-like pads that keep you afloat and allow you to use great form while "jogging". I also wear some cool water shoes that enhance the resistance of the footwork. I do 5 minutes of each of those. Then squats to the underwater benches in the shallow end of the pool and a variety of other stretches that use the water as gentle resistance. We "crosstrain" for both my knee and back. I end up with e-stim and ice on my knee and e-stim and heat on my back.

I also have an extensive list of home exercises I do on my own.

Starting next week I am cutting back to 1 session/week at PT and 1 or 2 independent sessions at the community pool doing the same exercises. I am running out of covered PT sessions and we are trying to stretch out my benefits. Trying to recover from two different surgeries has wiped out what seemed like pretty good coverage.

I am sure mine is not a "usual" program for knee rehab but I am hoping it will get me back the parts of my life that I have lost.

What wonderful news, Ref.....I know you are thrilled to have reached this milestone. You give us "newbies" something to look forward to!!! Sounds like you earned it, though. You've worked HARD!!!

I did both the elastic bands and the Bosu ball. My balance was great. I'm still working to rebuild my calf muscle and my quads. I enjoyed playing around at PT with all the cool stuff. The leg press was fun and felt good on my leg. Wish I had one at home. We do have one at work... I need to get on it.

So proud of you for completing PT. It feels so good when they say you've mastered all they have to offer and you're ready to go off on your own. I missed my PT. It was a highlight of my week.

I haven't done as well on my PT exercises as I would like now that I'm back to work and I can feel it sometimes, so do your best to hang in there with all the things you've learned to do. I hear we need to do this for at least the first year!

YOU need to do it for LIFE oh great stalker!! So get with it girl. Just think about hearing the men say," Let's take a break she's killing me"!

Yaayy Ref! Well done you!

HOw did I get to be a stalker?? As in hunting? I sure hope so. I haven't stalked anyone since I was in high school and keepin' an eye on a boyfriend who turned out not to be so trustworthy! And that wasn't really stalking. I just drove by his house all the time, called him all the time, drove around town looking for his car... not really stalking at all ;)

Geeze, Skeet.....you sound just like me when I was younger!!!! We must have both had a thing for the "bad" boys!!! Unfortunately, I married mine right out of college...dumb, dumb, dumb!!! But wised up seven years (and fortunatley NO KIDS later) and dumped him. Now I have the RIGHT guy....the one I was supposed to have in the FIRST place. Guess we live and learn.

Whoa, I married this bum at 18, divorced him at 21. My husband now is the man God intended for me, I'm sure. We're on 23 years this August. All very happy years. My parents were married 49 years when my mom died. They had the best marriage and I just wanted to be married.... found out there is more to it than that!

Yep....we're soul sisters for sure. We're now on our 26th year and still happy. It's the best.

I began my out-patient PT around Christmas time---and have been going 2X a week.

Feeling great today, but still more work to do.

Tim C

Congrats on you last day. I was sad to be released from my PT because I loved going. I was just getting good on the leg press at that time. My favorite was the pool therapy where as the bike and stretching were my enemies. Is the Buco Ball that squishy thing to balance on? I hated that because I couldn't keep my balance. Anyway, make sure you keep up with home excersises because they are important. Good luck.

I loved the squishy ball thing because I have great balance and enjoyed it. All those years of ballet pay off!! My PT kept falling over when she demonstrated... kind of funny.
