Well, it has been a week and the Indocin (anti-inlfammatory) doesn't seem to be doing any good, just making my stomach a bit queezy and other minor side-effects. I am taking it with my big meal of the day (lunch), drinking plenty of fluids, etc.....The only change I have seen with my knee is that I am having more pain than before the Indocin.
I am still not doing any "exercise" the extent of my physical activity, using my legs, is walking to the mail box daily, which is about 100 feet from the front door, and walking out in the front yard to let the dog do her "business". I spend the majority of my time in a recliner with a pillow under my leg and ice 3 times a day. I couldn't even think of hard exercise at this time. I am glad to see that hard exercise is possible after a knee implant though and hope to get there some time soon. To keep from completely going soft I keep a pair of 2 kilo dumbells next to my recliner and do several exercises with them twice a day, it gets the heart rate up just a bit and keeps the arms and chest at least somewhat firm. I did try walking 1/2 mile a few weeks ago and ended up looking like I was wearing a melon on my knee.
I guess at this point I'm not so much worried about the inflamation as I am irritated that I can't quite get on with my life. It's been almost a year since I worked, just over 6 months since TKR and boredom has set in with a vengence, I carry around a "black cloud" some days that is hard to shake. I have been able to read quite a few books and do a bit of writing which helps.
Thanks for all the concern and responses, I'll continue to keep you informed.
