MUA knee so stiff<<

Doctor gave me Tramadol tablets but I too afraid to take these so I keep to solpadol tablets to take the edge of the pain.
Take the Tramadol. You need it. Your doctor is aware of both benefits and the drawbacks of this medication and he/she wouldn't have prescribed it for you if he/she didn't believe it would help you.

Celle you are correct there are benefits in tramadol and many people are helped by it , for me its a no !
changing the subject now I notice how my left tkr knee is started to play up feel like I back to the beginning I can now feel the whole prosthesis swelling abit and plus pins and needles in foot all today, plus major clicking- all this because cannot straighten other leg, so putting all the weight on this knee- really I cannot win just got to smile

Like some help here -is this normal or not - my leg is very very swollen rest or not and cannot put weight on leg and limp when do =almost walking on my toes

Has your doctor talked to you about your knee? if your foot is pointing out at 2 pm and your rom is 70 and you are in constant pain, then there has to be a reason. I think you must press your physician for an answer here or plan to get a second opinion as soon as possible. You mentioned that you have a 95 rom on your first knee---what is the reason for that? Is is adhesions? or malalignment of the prosthesis? or did you have very poor rom before the surgery? Did you seek a second opinion on your first knee?

I am sure that all of this is very frustrating to you, since we have the surgery to get beyond knee pain. I recently tore a ligament in my hip and my primary doctor suggested that I take two 220mg Aleve and 1000mg of Tylenol twice a day with an extra 1000 mg of Tylenol at noon if I had pain. I found it to be quite successful and I noticed that someone else recommended it to you as well. Have you tried it? Being in constant pain inhibits healing and leads to depression.

Have you seen xrays of your prosthesis? You can just ask the hospital for them and they will give them to you on a DVD so that you can look at them at home. Josephine, our forum nurse can often help with reading xrays, so perhaps that is one thing that you could do to seek some answers about your knee.

I hope you receive some answers from your surgeon visit this month. If not, then I think it's time you have your GP send you to a revision specialist for a second opinion.

I hope you get some help from your doctor's appointment next work. In the meantime I'd take the tramadol. If you don't have some control over the pain it is really hard to sleep or do motion exercises. Have you investigated therapeutic massage? Not that it will magically give you more ROM but sometimes the our muscles get so tight it's hard to do the bending and straightening to the degree our knees otherwise would let us. I don't know that there was a measurable affect for me but it "felt" easier to bend after a massage.

Thankyou all for your concern not replied to all has not been mentally right - though I extremely concerned and upset mostly thinking about my job -having my knee done mean I may lose my job a job if I cannot return soon I very much enjoyed my job -why I saying this is today knee getting worse and cannot bare weight on my knee now very painful and now wondering if I should go to the emergency department to get t it check out- need help

Well 3 months update and I feel like a real complainer or moaner:groan: but cannot wait to see my consultant tomorrow - feel like I want to scream at him:hissy: - has my knee cannot bend so much so im walking on tip toes on the new op knee , Rom only 75ish - sharp pains alongside medial side of leg and alongside/top kneecap - Im thinking its perhaps a bursitis Pers Anserine - had the pain for almost all the time since Op starting putting Fenbid 10% gel but not doing much good . though must finish on a positive side -leg /knee not so swollen

Thankyou Izabel your thoughts and words do help with my struggles - though I must be the only one not having a bent leg so much so I'm walking on my toes. Try to find others in the same boat but unable too, Like I said early Maybe MUA to help break scar tissue may help but unsure if this would happen if my guess too that in suffering from a Pers Anserine -though its only a guess on pain diagnosis . could be completely wrong , until see surgeon

I hope you get some answers after seeing the surgeon.

though I must be the only one not having a bent leg so much so I'm walking on my toes

When I had the spacer in from October last year to March this year, my leg was 5cms/ins shorter and I tried to walk tipey toe nut my right leg was so weak I found it difficult, no impossible. However, my leg was lengthened in March with my Revision THR using a 30cm/12in stem. A different situation I know as I have good ROM ... but I know where you are coming from. xx

Went to see Surgeon today- In short he was not very pleased with my outcome so far -so much so he is going to admit me in hospital this Saturday for emergency MUA - he stated I got painful scar/adhesions - had bloods taken and so far- he write on form a failed TKR - he said he always write this when adhesion /Scar tissues forms. Ask also about taking Tramadol - he was not enthusiastic anyone taking these

I hope this helps you. :console2:

Good wishes for Saturday, I'll be watching for your updates.

@bland9 I'll be thinking of you this weekend and hoping for a good outcome. Remember that an MUA creates swelling all over again, so don't be discouraged with any pain/swelling/discomfort afterwards. We're all here for you. :)

thankyou Rockgirl4 and Benay for your kind wishes- well got to be up early tomorrow:alarm: -early admission to hospital tomorrow 7am - will miss having my cup of tea first thing:heehee: , my question here is -if my new TKR is a failure how soon will they do a revision ,
