Revision TKR Added spacer in tkr

It would appear to be a fairly significant misalignment of the patella to me as well. I could see how you might have pain from it. Is this where your pain is? If not or if there are other areas, could you please indicate them on this chart? And also, can I clarify that you've had this same pain since your surgery in July 2018?

Had back surgery because they thought it was my back , ok now had nerves put to sleep, never helped much. Also have to use brace when I’m not taped. If all else fails the dr is talking about lateral release about 8 months down the road. I’m not sure what to do. This is my new doctor the doctor that did the operation said it just takes time after one year and his reason for my pain I said goodbye to him. Don’t know much about lateral release.

Here is some information about a Lateral release in a knee .
A PT could help you with strengthening the muscles that would help pull your kneecap to the inside, and away from where it appears to be irritating you.
You should be able to do the exercises at home after a few visits.

Pumpkin
Thank you for that helpful information Pumpkin. I have had some PT hope to get more, my muscles got so weak. I had a major health issue after knee operation that set me back some. But I am going to try and continue full speed ahead on PT. Hope you are doing well.

Jamie
Jamie thank you for your information. Hope you are doing well.

@Jean houston
From your description of CRF1 and CRF2 and DRF1 and DRF2, it sounds like your misalignment is what is causing your pain. Pumpkln gave your some great advice, so I hope you can get some positive results from the therapy. Please let us know how things go.

Jamie can you advise me to a revision specialist at the Methodist hospital in Houston Texas

Jamie have you ever heard of Astym therapy
for scar tissue.

To tag Jamie, you need to put the (@) sign before her name, like this, @Jamie. Can you answer Jean houston's questions?

I moved your two posts to your own thread. Please keep your questions here where the answers will be so much easier to find.

I believe these two surgeons do revisions at the Methodist Hospital, but you'll need to double check:

Dr. Robin Goytia
713-799-2300

Dr. Vasilios Matthews
713-581-8152

Unless your insurance demands that you go to this hospital, is there a reason why you are limiting yourself this way?

Yes, I'm familiar with Astym treatments. What makes you think that you have adhesions?

@Jamie My new doctor thinks I have adhesions, which is preventing me from having enough strength in my thighs to keep my knee tracking properly. Infections have been ruled out,I have tested and they can’t find anything wrong. I have been taped for 21/2 months and 10 weeks of physical therapy. So astem therapy next week, have you heard of it helping with scar tissue. My dr thinks if I have astem it would help me with strengthening my knee and get my kneecap back in track. I was looking for a dr that does lots of revisions, without of going out of Houston area if possible . I don’t have any idea what it will cost for out of network surgery. Don’t know how to find that out either, At this point I would pay out of network but need an idea of what it might cost.I have 125 and 0 extension have no problem walking it just the pain that is my prblem.

I suppose the Astym would be worth a try, but I'm not sure from what you've written that it will relieve your pain. I'm going to tag @Pumpkln again, who knows a lot more about this than I do. It would appear to me that your problem is strictly with your patella and the lateral release that Pumpkln gave you information on would be more benefit for you. Did you discuss this with your doctors?

Has there been any improvement in the pain with the treatments you've had?

Your insurance company could tell you what percentage of the bill you'd be responsible for if you go out of network. Just call and talk with them or you possibly could find the information on their website under whatever plan you have with them. I would check out the two surgeons I gave you. They do revisions. You need some additional opinions.

@Jean houston ,
Astym is worth giving a try, it is non invasive. Just make sure the therapist has been certified, and you have good communication with them. They should be able to answer any questions you have, and fully explain what they are going to be doing and what to expect. Good luck, the therapy should help
Keep us posted on how you are doing.

@pumkin,thanks for your information. I go to therapy Thursday. Will let you know.

@Jamie thanks for information. I am going to try the therapy and see what it does for me. Went out of town to visit family my knee was so unhappy, on the trip. I had to ice it and take extra pain pills. It feels like it is tangled up in wires and wet, don’t know what that mean, course it been like that for months. I am going to research the doctors you gave me. Thanks will let you know if I am better after a few astem therapy’s sessions. Also see what my doctor wants to do after this therapy is behind me. Thanks

@Jamie t3rd opinion, doctor said loose instable, maybe add spacer how often does that work.

Who has had a bigger spacer put in after tkr. Can you tell me anything about it?

Jean Houston,
Does your OS mean your knee is unstable because the spacer is too small? If so a spacer exchange for a larger one usually is successful receiving symptoms.

Or do they mean, not only is your knee unstable, and your implant is loose (has come separated from the bone)?
If so you probably need a revision.
