The pain you have now is, if untreated, permanent and only going to get worse.

Post op you will also have pain, it's serious surgery, but temporary and only going to get better.

Most of us have been through what you are facing - and I can tell you from personal experience that it's good to have that kind of feedback because this will be a challenging experience for you, but it will be worth it. Have faith in your doctors and support system, and please ask us questions if have any. I am looking forward to following your recovery.
