I went to pt and they did what I would call deep massage on the part of the knee where the replacement is glued to the bone"" I was haveing muscle pain in that area"" and the next day I could hardly walk, Im back on my walker, Im 10 weeks post up and in lots of pain after that treatment. I go back to the doctor on the 13th of aug. HELP!

John, I'm sorry to hear that you are hurting. Sometimes the PT guys do get a little carried away and you can have some steps backward. Believe me, that happens to everyone. Be sure to communicate with them so they know what happened. Don't give up!!! It will get better. I had to regress back to my walker a time or two when I overdid things in recovery. I believe almost everyone has a story or two like that to tell. Ten weeks is still pretty new into the process. Keep up with your home exercises each day so that you continue to work and push those muscles. I'm betting you'll be feeling better real soon. And in the meantime, write to your friends here online.....you will find plenty of support here from those who know exactly what you are going through!! Oh, and be sure to stay on your schedule for pain meds.....so VERY important at your stage!!!

Hi John. I had similar experiences with my first knee replacement last fall. The muscle above and to the inside of the joint were very tight and swollen. My PT would do a LOT of deep tissue massage that could be quite painful but in the end, it really did help me. I don't want to discount the severity of your PT's massage but I think their intentions were to get that sore, achy muscle relaxed which is important. I know my OS stressed over and over how important that was. Like Jamie said, talk to them next time about what a hard time you had afterwards. Maybe they can lighten up just a bit. Karen
