Hi my name is anne i am from sunshine coast australia today i was told I need 2 new knees go to see the surgeon on 11th july for assesment so could be anytime after that a wee bit scared i am 68yrs young have tap danced and line danced for many years until 4mths ago whenthe pain was to severe to continue i also walked every day for 1 hr i am 96 kilos I know too heavy but have never been skinny as I love my carbs naughty for that imust try and lose some weight before the op is that the best thingto do even if it is only a couple of kilos it would help????? at the moment it is bone on bone with both knees so my GP had put me on prensidone tabelts so I have to come down off them before they will do the op these tabelts put weight on as well so once i stop them i should be able to lose some weight hoping for a reply from anyone

Hi Anne - sorry I missed your post.

Erm - 96 kilos? That's 13 stone in English!! Perlease!! I wish I was anywhere near that weight!! (just say I'm one third bigger!!)

Just before I retired last year, we put a new knee in a lady who was 28 stones!! That's over 203kilos in your money!! She did just fine, by the way! In fact, lots of the patients were biggies and it never seemed to be a problem for any of the surgeons. For the anaesthetists, maybe, but not the surgeons!
