If after you have your knee MUA, is it absolutely necessary to go back to outpatient P/T, or can you do the exercises at home to help keep the bend? I know a few people have done their own exercises. Do you basically do the same exercises?
One problem is, his P/T runs out this week. If the doctor does the MUA, I will have to wait approx. 7 days or so to get another authorization for p/t (if the insurance even approves additional therapy) so he will lose time there, or maybe he can wait another week (he will then be at 10 weeks) get the authorization in the works, then do the MUA. Thoughts please.

You know I did mine at home after and it worked fine Im sure you will get suggestions, they always help ya here... mine was to much money as well........Im now at 127 doing fine. I did keep up with it tho...Good Luck...

Ouch, the exercises are important...he will need to continue activity to push the joint and/or keep it at the ROM achieved by the MUA. I would try to get more PT authorized because it is good to have the structure of the therapist appointments to be sure exercises are done and done correctly. But in the meantime, he needs to plan to do exercises he has learned at home. There is not a different set of exercises after an MUA....it will be the same as before. So you both are familiar with the routine.

I had a HMO with tthe whole 2 week authorization process when going through a mini medical nightmare. Can you explain all this to your husband's doc and see what he or she suggests. I would get the pt approved first if it were me. See if the os can help.
I ended up with a wonderful primary care doc who ended up just keeping his own personal copy of my chart (part of it) on his desk so he could help me with all the crazy authorizations.
I feel there is nothing llike having the pt to help guide the exercises.

That's an excellent suggestion, Judy. Ouch, do ask the doctor if the PT approval process can be started now.

Ouch

No matter what, he needs to do his PT at home while waiting to go to a PT center.

Yes you need to try and start the process to get the PT approval now. Also, with the spine doc. any pre approval you can get needs to get started. That will make the wait shorter.
