.........I keep forgetting to take my stick with me when I go out :wahey:so I imagine that I don't really need it anymore then.

I am now 9 weeks post op and haven't actually used the stick on my walks for about 3 -4 weeks now, just carried it with me. It actually helped for a while if I held it horizontally in both hands in front of my body when I was walking - as it seemed to balance me and help me concentrating on getting rid of the limp - which has also gone now :wahey:so life is wonderful again......
Just need to get over the sudden tiredness syndrome, which I am sure will go soon. I am due to go back to work at the beginning of September and don't want to fall asleep there, lol.

So now all we need is this baby to come along and all will be well :D

great work steph ! how are you dealing with the sudden tiredness im also struggling with that.I feel guily lying in bed half the day

Well, I am generally OK during the morning, and potter about doing things - have a drive to the shops, do the exercises, housework etc, then in the afternoon it hits and I just have a quick half hour snooze, which really seems to help. It is getting easier though, but I have found it really odd cos I have never been the sort of person to sleep in the afternoon. I suppose we have had quite a lot of trauma to our bodies though.

Hi Steph...

Were you using a cane before you had the surgery? Have you heard whether or not there is any advantage to doing so ? The limp I have is fairly pronounced so I wonder if trying to "straighten" it prior to my surgery would serve any benefit. :pzld:

Thanks!

I think you'll find your PTs will help you there, Shawnee. It's called gait training and you will have to work at it but it's eminently doable!

PT did help alot with my limp as well. They were on me all the time and we would take walks they really were great.....Yeah Steph Im happy for ya.....I never was one to nap either but sometimes I catch myself slipping a lil and will lay down for a few......I get up and feel naughty...lol...Like I did something wrong...lol...Not used to it either. But your right it will go away.....:) Yes wheres that baby !!!!!!!!.lol...Just kidding dont answer....lol...:)

Shawnee, I had been using a crutch for the last 6 months before surgery because it was so painful to try and put weight on the hip. It did provide some relief but not a huge amount - very useful for helping me get upstairs though. At least I felt as though I wasn't rolling from side to side as much with the crutch as I did without it.

I tried a cane, but found it didn't give me enough support.

Certainly the PT helps with the limp afterwards, some people give up with the canes quite early, but it was just useful for making me feel balanced and secure thats why I hung onto it.

Just been for a walk Kim, came back and checked my mobile and no text to say she has started.:yn: getting boring now, lol. I have never used a mobile phone so much as I have in the last few weeks.....

Steph,

Forgetting your stick-that's great news! Like you, I still get tired in the afternoon and usually take a nap. I don't feel guilty either!

Keep up the good work.

Diane

Gosh Steph... Shiloh is 15 hands high (5ft.). Where am I gonna find crutches that are about 6.5ft. long :pzld:

You have a grandchild on the way? Congratulations ! :D

Ha, ha - you will just have to walk a while without Shiloh

Thanks for your kind wishes Shawnee - hopefully the happy event will be soon, before everyone gets bored with me posting about it, lol

Yes the poor child does not I repeat does not want to come out..lol....Thats why I think its a boy...lol..I love the not knowing that makes it all the more exciting...lol....They never want to come out...Mine had t be induced as well. We will never get tired Steph at all its too exciting.

Hi Shawnee How are you today!!!!!!!! I hope you doing well....:)

I know Kim, I think it is a boy as well - I was the same with son when I was expecting him - he was late and has always been late for everything ever since. Still haven't heard anything from her......

Going out to lunch tomorrow with a couple of girls from work, so it is bound to happen then :D

Haha! Steph! We really have to tether our kids......no matter how old they are!!! :)

Steph
That little guy knows he has it good in there and does not want to come to this scary world.

But we are all wishing so maybe he (bound to be a boy) will come into this world soon. ( The sooner the better)

Or the baby could be a "lazy girl!". Heck...as long as the baby is healthy....nothing else really matters!!!! :)

Lazy girl for sure!!

I think that's a great possibility,haha.

Steph,I think that child is scared to come out from all the cuddling that grandma is going to do.

I can hear the lil one now,,
,give me some room already!!!
Sheesh I am tiny ,why do you have to squeeze me so much?

LOLOLOL :D

I think you're right, Mark. Boy or Girl, that kid had better hit the ground running because it sure sounds like Gramma is already at  Full Speed Ahead.

Ya if I was that child,I would not come out tell grandma is sleeping for sure. Any head start running will help,:hehe:

Just teasing ya Steph,,,,
Are your really ready??? it's hard to tell, lol

Yes this is one Granma who wants to cuddle this baby lots, lol. Got a lot of cuddling to do during August cos I am back at work full time in September, so the little person had best get a move on.....

Hey Clunker, us girls aren't lazy - it is just that you guys never notice what we do :hehe::hehe:

We are really ready!!!!!! I am so going to enjoy this little one as I have another little grandaughter (my sons) who lives in the north of the UK and I hardly get to see her, so I am going to make the most of this one as my daughter only lives half a mile away.
