We are having crazy weather here in Oregon. It actually snowed all the way to the beaches today! Saw a few scattered flakes mixed in with the snow here at my house. The air FEELS like now-- which we rarely even get in the winter---- let alone during spring break!
Take care of yourselves--- the daffodils in my yard are telling me real spring will get here soon and then we can be outside more.

Yep, it's so icy this morning that I'm staying home until noon. My hubby just came home due to a power outage at his work. Said there are all sorts of accidents since no one sanded the roads and it all iced over about 5:30 this morning. I see no reason to risk an accident that might hamper my knee recovery! Good gravy it is almost April... we aren't supposed to have snow and ice in Oregon at sea level in April!!

Hi Jim,
I really had a hard time with my back with my first knee, this time my back is okay but my whole leg is really out of whack.

Anyway, have your PT do some stretches with you for your back before he starts on the knee stuff. It changed my whole life last time within 2 days! Easy too, he just bent my leg a certain way and put pressure on it, it didn't hurt, I could feel the stretch but not painful, it was so worth it. If you read any of my old threads back in Janurary that is what I cried about the most, my back,my back, my back. I changed to a different PT because of it. Same company and location, different person. It was the best thing I ever did.
Hope you are doing well otherwise.
Let me know how your back feels later if you get those back stretches in there.
Kathy

Staples out today

Hurray, had staples removed today. I was worried that my bend wasn't enough as I have had a really hard 2 weeks with so much going on with my other physical problem and the huge amount of swelling this time around and more pain so on and so forth. Sat on the edge of the exam table and my dr said just move back a bit, I started to whine, as it hurt on the top of my knee, I was whincing and he straightened me up I was leaning and he said, come on now just relax and sit here let your leg hang down. I said I don't think I can, he said ok, I will hold it for you, and he did for a second or so, letting it lower and lower, I felt tears welling up and just when I said ok, good enough, it stopped, no more pain, I just sat there hung my leg and he said look at that, if you just relax you gained 10 points, and he was right. I was at 90 just like that and for me I was really happy. xrays turned out great and oh guess what? I am now 5'71/4", it worked Doug, it worked, I am back! I thought I was going to have to join a carnival if I kept shrinking.
That is 1 1/2 inches!

Last time my home PT came in I mentioned that my back was hurting from sitting in the chair so much and the cane. When we did our routine she added something called the arch which was to work the knee and strengthen my back. She only had me do 5 because it was new. I was concerned but I tell ya, for everything that hurt yesterday, the back wasn't one of them. Kathy may have something there.

1 and a half inches!? If I get that much more height I may need some new clothes! SHUCKS. Congrats Kath.

Good for you, Kath! I'd love a couple more inches... wouldn't have to lose as much weight! Plus I always wanted to be 5'7". Don't know why. Just seemed like a good heighth.

I always wanted to be 6'6". If I have it done a couple of more times maybe I'll get there.

Jen....sitting in the recliner made me ache all over. I would either lay in bed with a wedge....or sit in a straight chair....ALL ortho guys will tell you to stay out of the recliner.
just some useless info

They are communist. Give me a recliner, and the t.v. control...That's it.

Yeah, I am with Doug on this one. I used a recliner and it helped me a lot. No TV in the bedroom... just sayin'

Patti, bed up stairs bathroom down. Recliner's not too bad. Brand new just for this little adventure. Some how i feel more like I am "sick" in the bed, bed ridden, that's what I'm looking for. Downstairs I can get up, load dishwaher, washer/dryer, lite pick up. Feel human.

My recliner station is still set up and used multiple times daily. Polar Ice bandage cooler, ace wraps, pillows, heating pad for my back, and my laptop.
Scott monopolizes the remote to guard against HGTV and "chick flicks". Don't know how I would have survived without my recliner.

Note to all newbies and a reminder to all...........Patti aint right! She's like the aunt evryone has...........just laugh, don't really listen to her. She has a good heart, but she aint right.

I am a bit jealous of some of you guys. Recliners, hot tubs.....boo hoo, bikes, I need some toys, I want to play like you guys do.

Yeah, we just had to get our legs sliced open, bones sawed and glued back together to justify it. At least in my case. I hear ya Kath, no hot tub here!

Okay you bunch'a stoops....you stay in those recliners and you WILL have a back ache.
I have spoken!
Let it be done!

Kath...keep it up and you'll be a 6 footer (as doobie says)
