The few days leading up to the date are the worse.....the week of surgery is kind of a blur for me and the second and third weeks have been a little better each day. I hope you have a positive recovery as I have had for the most part.....so far.
Here is a copy of the recovery guidelines to help you prepare for your surgery on Tuesday.
The articles are short and will not take long to read.
Knee Recovery: The Guidelines
1. Don’t worry: Your body will heal all by itself. Relax, let it, don't try and hurry it, don’t worry about any symptoms now, they are almost certainly temporary
2. Control discomfort:

Hi everyone. I had me my surgery on the yesterday around 3:30 and was released 24 hrs later. They put me through ot and pt. By the time i got home i was in alot of pain. I can’t put any weight on it. So I'm spending tomorrow resting and icing.
Its day 4 and the pain level has changed for the better. I try to walk up and down the hallway. Im waiting for a leg elevator i ordered from Amazon to help with the swelling. Sleep
Isn’t happening. I try to sleep in small increments when my body allows. I hope it improves with time.
Time and again members complain about not being able to sleep and after a while, that it gets to making them feel frustrated, despairing, depressed and even ill. I thought perhaps a short treatise on the reasons for disturbance of sleep patterns was long overdue. It won't help you to sleep but...
Well im 2 weeks out. My PT is scheduled to start dec 11. Im still on a walker My knee is bending but not alot. I’m still swollen and bruised. I had a follow-up 8 days out and they told i was textbook. I have to keep my leg straight so I’ve been in a recliner since i got home. Fortunately the pain has turned to ache so I’m happy about that. My Tylenol therapy has stopped. My aspirin is still
Another 2 weeks. I’m frustrated but i guess I'm getting there slow and steady!!!
Started pt on dec 11th. Its not too bad. They’re very patient and don’t push me beyond my limits. They seem excited about doing a full rotation on the bike. Im not quite there yet. I can only use my new knee on the bike cause my other one is shot! Im almost 4 weeks out. Im still using my walker only because my other knee is buckling. Im walking but my new knee is still swollen and tight. Ive been out for car rides and that helps build confidence. Im worried about healing my new knee only because I can’t depend on my other one. Im forging ahead slow but steady. Can’t wait till I can get out of my recliner and back in my bed!
