Happy Four Month Anniversary!
@Jad26
Thank you! I hope you also had a great Christmas and a happy new year. Hips are doing ok i do sometimes get a bit of achy type pain on my right side in the lower back area of hip in the mornings is it still nornal to feel some discomfort now and again? Left side is fine both hips funcrioning great. The downside is my knees have got worse and are becoming a real pain at the moment. I have rang my rheumatologist to see what they can do. Do steroid injections affect the hip implants? As i may have to get them just to put out the fire in my knees for a while. I must say when i was smoking cannabis i know its not good but it did seem to help my knees im so tempted to start again but im scared for my hips. Im in a bit of a stressful situation at the moment with my knees as they have made me really unmotivated. I am struggling with fatigue aswell is this normal 4 months after surgery? Sorry for the dull update lol my knees are just getting me down as i went through major surgery just to have another problem afterwards. This is not how i imagined 4 months later but still in a better way than before surgery just not where i want to be unfortunately

Very normal in my experience.
Things really did take a full year and a bit longer really to settle where I didn't have the travelling pains....:sigh:

I really hate that your knees have been such a problem... is it arthritis?
I know many folks have received steroid injections after hip replacement and your doctor should be able to reassure you that it shouldn't affect your implant.

Yes, I got tired easily for the first 4 months post-op. The Knee issues cant help for increasing your stamina.:nah:

I certainly wasn't 100% 4 months post-op ...it got easier and better with time.
Have you ever used knee sleeves/ compression type things? Would that help?

Sure hope you get some help with the knees so you can feel better about getting those new hips!

Little aches, pains, discomfort is all normal at this point. The only type of pain I'd question is one that is increasing in frequency or intensity. You're still rather early into what is often a year long recovery.

I am sorry to read that your knees are bothering you. I'll bet some days you're feeling as though you can't stay ahead. I hope you obtain speedy relief if your physician agrees to the injections and if not, I hope they just stop hurting.

Energy drain or fatigue is normal since our body's energy supply isn't limitless. So when we're in healing mode after major surgery our energy will be used for healing first, not leaving a great reserve for all the other activity of daily life. It is completely normal to feel tired for quite some time. How long....most likely relates to your body's rate of healing. Making our best effort to get adequate sleep and rest is beneficial. Our body does it's best healing while we're sleeping.

It seems you're doing better overall and you are admittedly in a better place than before your surgery so I view this as a win! Just hang in there and enjoy the progress that's still ahead. All the best to you, thanks for the update!

Thank you for your reply. Yeah its a weird pain that i get it seems to only occur in the morning like if i get up in the middle of the night i can feel it in the back area of my hip maybe it's from being in same position for to long i don't know. Yes i have inflammatory arthritis in the knees my left is way worse which i did suffer from a injury which sort of triggered this arthritis conditon many years ago. It sems to of calmed down a little bit at the moment just waiting for rheumatologist to call me back hopefully we can sort something out. As for fatigue it just seems to be in the morning i feel like i could sleep for 24 hours but once im up and moving its not so bad. Im going to start gym this week set some goals hopefully helps. Hips are still doing good thats the main thing!

@Jad26
Thanks for your replt. The intensity doesn't change it just the frequency some mornings i get it and some mornings i don't not sure what it is. My knees are not as bad as last week i have started taking some supplements maybe they are helping but the swelling and stiffness is still but im able to go for walks again which is good. Im just waiting to hear back from the rheumatologist hopefully we can discuss a plan to help my knees cos the last thing i want is a knee replacement in the near future. Yeah overall i am much better than pre op so cant complain im use to living with pain but it just seems one thing after another. The knee pain was always there but my hips were so bad they masked the knee pain now it seems my knees are taking all the pain. Hopefully i get where i want to be and all the best to u all

Its been a little while since i updated but here i am. Nearly 11 months since i had bilateral hip replacements. What can I say. I wish i done it sooner but put it off due to fear. I look back to this time last year what state i was in compared to now and there is a massive difference. I go gym/sauna 4 to 5 days a week do cardio and weight training im really starting to feel and see the benefits. I still get a bit of achy stiffness in the right hip at the back but its normally when ive not had a good sleep. Ive been going out with freinds, dating literally living a normal life. Somtines i even forget i have had surgery. My knees still play up from time to time but ive managed to get them under control with the right excercise. I can get down on one knee, sit on the floor, cross my legs, put socks all the things i thought i would never be able to do again it feels so good. I can walk as much as i want when my knees are good i could provably jog but choose not to. I just hope things continue to get better. I do worry when i get a bit of achy pain on the right side but normally sorts itself out after a day or two and a good sleep. I feel so much stronger im literally feeling like a new person. I feel drinking alcohol does have a negative affect on hips as the next day they ache I dont really wana drink but its been a while and feel i deserved a bit of fun. Just wondering if alcohol affects implants in anyway? Hope everyone who reads this can see there is light at the end of the tunnel

What a wonderful update! It seems you’re doing fantastic. I do think a bit of achiness now and then isn’t that uncommon, even one year post op. Possibly it’s related to something you’re doing activity wise, the way you’re sleeping, your gait? I guess it could be any number of things, but overall it seems you’re doing great!

I don’t know about the implant, but it can affect other joints causing discomfort or pain due to the sugar content. At least that’s my understanding. As with everything, moderation is key. Drink responsibly. :wink:
Thanks for sharing an update. Happy Eleven Month Anniversary!

Great to hear! Go out and celebrate your upcoming 1 year with a reasonable and prudent number of drinks :)

Thank you very much and i am not to sure it maybe a sleeping position as i do tend to sleep on right my side but also my right side is my stronger side so it could be that. But it seems to be when i have a bad or not enough sleep weird lol. It does dissappear on its own thankfully. Yeah im not really a drinker but maybe i did overdo it a little lol
