I haven't been here in awhile. I had my LTKR last June, things were going fairly well with that leg, when the right started to get really ugly! I knew the day would come for that leg also, but I was hoping to at least get a few more years out of it...NOT!!

My 3 young sons and my husband have been TERRIFIC for the past 8 months, and they are prepared for the rough roads ahead. All of my friends are again lining up to help me and my family. It is such a huge help!

This forum was wonderful in getting thru the first, and I'm sure I'll find comfort here this time around. True, the short term road ahead is rough, but I would surely like to thoroughly enjoy my children's youth, and what youth I have left, after all, I did finally join the 40+ club this past October!!

Thanks in advance,
Hess

Hopefully you'll be one of those folks who have an easier time with the second knee! I know I have, and my timing sounds identical to yours: did my LTRK has April, and my RTKR at the end of January. While it hasn't been fun, it has been easier than my LTKR and I'm anxiously waiting to be able to get out and have an active summer.

Do you have your surgery scheduled yet?

Hess, all the best for Wednesday 25th. I'll be exactly 2 weeks behind you. We can commiserate together!

Good Luck on the right knee. I had the right hip replaced last June. I'm not sure about the other one, but since had a knee scope/microfracture and in Jan back surgery.
you will do fine and be abale to enjoy the summer with your kids a lot more than last summer.

Thanks for the positive words. I'm scheduled for this Wednesday, and I am a little nervous, actually a lot, because my left knee doesn't feel great yet. I am only 8 months out on that one, but am told that it takes 12 months to be totally better. I am still very stiff, and it still only gets about 120 degrees. Maybe I expect too much of a bend, but the soreness I could definately do without. Hopefully this RTKR will take away some of the duties that the left is now carrying, and things will feel better!!! Wishful thinking?
Thanks again,
Hess

Nope, not wishful thinking at all! Your current "new" knee will be fine--really! My first new knee is doing very well while my second new knee is recovering...a little owee at times, but holding up very well. I'm about 9 months out on my first knee and still have occasional stiffness and soreness.

You'll do fine and will have two working, wonderful knees!

Hey Hess, good luck.

My second TKR went much better than the first....right from the start I was a good two weeks ahead as to recovery--probably due to the exercises from the first.

And my Rom on the second is much better than the first...a good 10 degrees at least....

Now as the second still hurts a bit (4 months out) I can compare it to how good the first feels (10 months out).

Keep us posted!
