I just needed to whine a little. It's been 3 1/2 months since my surgery and I seemed to have hit a brick wall in my recovery. My hip is fine but the muscles in my thigh and knee just won't get stronger. I can just barely lift 20 pounds on the weight machine where you sit and flex your leg out at the knee. I try to do several sets of shallow squats each day. My muscles stay stiff and sore. When I stand after sitting for a while it takes about 10 steps before I can walk semi normal. Sorry about the whining I am just tired of being stiff and sore.

Hey Mark glad to hear from ya!!!!!!!!!! Its ok to whine we all have......and do .........Im a knee so Im not sure how much you can push so ill let the knees tell ya but hang in there.....YOUR NOT WHINING .....others will post soon you know that...Hope you feel better soon...........)

Mark, have you discussed this with your therapist? If not, you need to. If you are not in therapy now, call your surgeon and see if he would order a few more sessions for you. You may need to learn to do some stretching exercises also to work out that tightness.

I'd say 3½ months is pretty early yet. You can't expect to be back to normal so soon. Your body's still in recovery yet you're lifting 20lbs per rep? That's pretty good for 3½ months.

Wait another 3 months and see how you are then - if no more improvement, you might have cause for concern
.
