I had hip replacement surgery due to a hip accident last year. I think my hip implant is the wrong size. Is there a test to determine if I am correct?

When I lay on my back, my foot on my injured leg falls all the way to the floor and lays flat and points away from my body.

If I lay on my side with my injured leg up, I can't lift it at all.

When I walk, I have stabbing pain in my groin.

I feel like I have swollen concrete in my thigh and can't bend my knees most days.

My butt on boths sides feels like it is swelling up and is going to explode.

When I get up from sitting, the injured leg feels like it has to shift in to gear in order for me to move it.

I walk with two canes for balance.

Hi,
I am not sure when you had your surgery and if there were other injuries. I am sure Jo, our wonderful nurse will see this and answer you. Or ask more questions first!!

What does your surgeon have to say about all this? Are you in physical therapy?

From my experience I wouldn't think those symptoms point to an incorrect prosthesis - more likely some muscle/ligament problems.

Would I be correct in assuming you had the THR last year at time of your accident? If so, that is a long time to be experiencing these problems and if the new hip IS a year old, could more likely point to some issue like loosening or stem fracture.

In any event, you need the hip investigated with an xray at the very least.

But tell me more of what you have had done thus far, when was the op, what your surgeon has had to say about your problems, age, etc.

And by the way - welcome to BoneSmart!
